News Update:

Distance athletes front and center wedding

The race is on for kennels to find their top distance athlete for the upcoming 660-Yard Challenge. The third annual $75,000 stakes race will begin next month and is the final stakes race of the year. Southland stakes winner Djays Octane has made it loud and clear that he is a major player. The Charter kennel star won his fifth distance race in his six starts. $100,000 Distance Classic champion TMC’s Remedy recently returned and is shaping up and appearing like his old self for the Filipelli & O’Donnell kennel.

St. Pete Derby Champion WW’s Deathvalley returned after a short stakes stint in Iowa. It has been a few weeks since he collected a win, but he is one that can’t be discounted. Kiowa Knockout who won the Naples distance stakes last year will be one of McAllister kennel’s entries as well as last week’s Juvenile runner-up Magic Porkchop, who will move back to the 660-yard course. Fall Juvenile champion Career Goals will also move back to the 660-yard course after a short rest and seek a second stakes victory to close out the year for the Lester Raines kennel.

St Petersburg Times highlighted Fall Juvenile winner Career Goals
Ken Lesperance wears traditional favorite tie in winner's circlewedding

Photo L to R: Derby Lane President Vey Weaver presents trophy to Jeanne Lesperance and husband Ken for a back to back Juvenile stakes championship. Career Goals won for the Lester Raines kennel. Leadout is Fred Davis. Full story tomorrow.

Celebrations were in order Saturday night on track as five fans collected $500 each and trainer Ken Lesperance and wife Jeanne collected the trophy for their champion Career Goals who won the $20,000 Fall Juvenile stakes. “It’s an honor to win another stakes,” said Ken. “I made sure I picked out a good tie for tonight,” he chuckled. Ken was featured in the parimutuels of Saturday’s St. Petersburg Times. Correspondent Don Jensen wrote-As stakes finals go, Lester Raines kennel manager-trainer Ken Lesperance has the routine down to a “T:” Wear a favorite tie, take a trip to the winner’s circle and treasure the moment. Ken did not disappoint and kept the tradition alive. Full story link below

Career Goals won the third annual stakes giving a powerful presentation. He wasn’t giving in to anyone and it showed. WW Bountiful (3) rushed to the lead as the early threat but Goals overtook her and was in front by the first turn. Magic Porkchop was hot on his heels and stole the lead briefly on the inside, as the two were racing towards the finish line. Career Goals’ powerful strides were too much for Porkchop when Goals passed him on the outside for a one-length victory at the wire. Goals paid $6.60 to win over the favorite Magic Porkchop. Kiowa AK Richpie gave a winning effort for third and the longest shot on the board (which surprises me based on her closing talent) Kelsos Mercedes completed the superfecta that paid $264.70. Fifth through eighth place was USS Happy Camper, WW Bountiful, Deco Bull Rum and WW’s Revamped.

Both Career Goals and Magic Porkchop will meet again in the upcoming $75,000 660-yard challenge. The two will meet the newcomer Djays Octane who is among the early favorites in the race. Octane won his fifth race in six starts Saturday night. Distance Classic champion TMC’s Remedy looked like his old self on Saturday night as well. The champion flew wide but came from far back to just miss the victory posted by Backwood Nan who is also prepping for the distance stakes.

Heza Career Man out, Kelsos Mercedes in for Juvenile stakes
TMC’s Remedy and Djays Octane highlight 660-yd. races Saturday night

We’re giving away CASH Saturday night Nov. 14. Five drawings for $500 cash will be held in races 2,4,6,8 and 10. The third annual Fall Juvenile stakes is the tenth race Saturday night. Admission is free and fans must be present to win and 18 years of age or older to enter cash drawing.

It could be déjà vu for the Lester Raines kennel and trainer Ken Lesperance who won the 2008 Fall Juvenile. Last year Raines had two entries in the final. This year their entry Career Goals is the leading favorite that scored the highest points in the qualifiers. Career Goals won three of the four qualifiers. He drew the six box in the stakes. His kennel-mate Kelsos Mercedes will compete from the four post. John Kelly who also owns last year’s champion owns Mercedes. Heza Career Man was pulled from the final and Mercedes was added to the final.

$20,000 Fall Juvenile Stakes final
Saturday night November 14 – Race 10
1-Magic Porkchop (Flying Hydrogen-Magic Bacon Bits) 54 points. McAllister kennel, Barbara McAllister trainer, Haber Kennels, Inc. owner.
This is the first time in Porkchop’s 27 career starts that he will break from the one box. He will be a heavy favorite.

2- WWs Revamped (Lonesome Cry-Barbara Patch) 32 points. Wayne Ward kennel. John Graham trainer, Julia Ward owner.
Would have preferred to have the 8 box. Watch for him at the end.

3-WW Bountiful (Dodgem By Design-WW Rags To Richs) 32 points. Patriot kennel. Victor Hall trainer, Vincent H. Savill owner.
One of two females in the race. Bountiful needs to take advantage of trouble in the race.

4-Kelsos Mercedes (Dodgem By Design-Kelsos Ziplock) 28 points. Lester Raines kennel. Ken Lesperance trainer. John Kelly owner.
Mercedes is one of two females in the field of males. Her late breaking style will hurt her chances of a late rally if she encounters problems in the backstretch.

5-Deco Bull Rum (Maryville Rumble*-Deco Cocktail) 45 points. Capabal kennel, Belinda Parker trainer, Roger Spiess owner.
One of two greyhounds not sired by a former Derby Lane superstar. Is a fast breaker and needs a clean run to the turn for a shot at the title.

6- Career Goals (Dodgem By Design-Sheza Career Gal) 58 points. Lester Raines kennel, Ken Lesperance trainer, Deborah L. Strickland Trust owner.
Will be the betting favorite. He is fast at the break and will come and get ‘em at the end.

7- USS Happy Camper (Flying Stanley-USS Mysterious) 32 points. Charter kennel. Danielle Asbury trainer, Ron Wiltse owner.
Surprised in semifinals by becoming the only greyhound to beat Career Goals in the series.

8-Kiowa AK Richpie (Lonesome Cry-Kay Race Rich) 37 points. Patriot kennel, Victor Hall trainer, Smith Greyhounds or Al. Flohr owners.
He was a Fall Sprint finalist last month. He is a powerful athlete that is hard to beat when he gets into position.

Races and Posts have been drawn for Fall Juvenile semifinals Wednesday night
Wednesday November 11 is Veterans Daywedding

In honor of Veteran’s Day Derby Lane will give flag lapel pins to the first 1,000 fans on track Wednesday matinee November 11. Gates open 11:30 am.

The races and posts have been drawn for the semifinal round of the $20,000 Fall Juvenile. Lester Raines kennel is the defending champion. It’s déjà vu for trainer Ken Lesperance who watched litter-brothers Kelsos Hathaway and Kelsos Scotsclan shine in last year’s event with Hathaway stealing the show. This year litter-brothers Career Goals and Heza Career Man are Raines hopefuls as well as kennel-mate Kelsos Mercedes. Career Goals is undefeated in the series and under no pressure for high performance on Wednesday. However, Heza Career Man and Kelsos Mercedes will both vie for the top points in race six. Deco Bull Rum and Magic Porkchop have enough points to move to finals as well and they too, compete in race six for the top points.

Race ten features Career Goals who just needs to circle the field. There’s no pressure on the top point getter currently with 48 points. Kiowa AK Richcry, WW’s Revamped and Kiowa AK Richcry need to grab high points for a guaranteed post in the final. Sadly for KL Heart N Soul a win will not advance the female. Her last place finish in round three shoved her into the last place position. M’s Dream Mary collected high points in the first two rounds, but she needed another outside box and would pay hefty if she scored from the four post.

The semifinal races will be featured in races six and ten. The top eight will become the finalists in the third annual Fall Juvenile stakes Saturday night November 14.

Career Goals continues undefeated Fall Juvenile spree
Lamorge Streaker wins in her return racewedding
Zenyatta beats the boys in Breeders’ Cup

Lester Raines Career Goals continues to dominate the Fall Juvenile stakes qualifiers and has already cinched his entry into the November 14 final. Career Goals (Dodgem By Design x Sheza Career Girl) gave another outstanding performance in a family battle in race six Saturday night. Goal’s biggest threat was his own brother Heza Career Man who could have used the winning points to his advantage. Career Man was in front but his brother snatched the win away and crossed a half-length in front at the wire. Career Goals kept his undefeated record in tact in the Fall Juvenile series for the Lester Raines kennel that won last year’s stakes race with Kelsos Hathaway. WW Bountiful ran third followed by LL’s San Lazaro that completed the superfecta that paid $330.30. Fifth through eighth place was USS Happy Caper, Rooftop Slim To, M’s Dream Mary and Craigie Burns.

Capabal kennel’s Deco Bull Rum (Maryville Rumble* x Deco Cocktail) halted the win streak of Magic Porkchop and scored the top points to win his second qualifier and move into second place with 42 points in the series. Kiowa AK Richcry took second place followed by WW’s Revamped and the betting favorite Magic Porkchop finished fourth. Kelsos Mercedes rebounded from offstriding in the first turn to finish fifth followed by As Turbine Turns, Kiowa AK Richpie and KL Heart N Soul who also encountered early trouble.

The sixteen greyhounds will compete in the final qualifier on Wednesday night November 11 where only eight will advance to the final. The draw will be held Monday night November 9 and will be posted right here on Vera’s News at approximately 7:30 PM. EST. Here are the current point totals.

Welcome back Lamorge Streaker who did not disappoint her fans who cashed a winning ticket and her Derby Lane Fantasy Greyhound players who picked her to win. The season win leader aced her return race in box to wire fashion and held off Craigie Prime It to win by a half-length in race 12 Saturday night.

Zenyatta the talk to the track
The females continue to shake up the pari-mutuel world. First it was Greys Calibrator in 2006 that beat the boys and collected the $500,000 purse in the first Million Dollar Greyhound stakes race in the history of the sport at Derby Lane. This year, Zenyatta- the undefeated 2008 Ladies' Classic champ, became the first female to win the $5 million Breeders' Cup Classic. The female kept her undefeated record intact at 14 for 14.

News rooms and chat rooms alike are discussing her Horse of the Year nomination along with superstar 3-year-old filly Rachel Alexandra, who won the Preakness and went 8 for 8 this year. However, Rachel Alexandra skipped the Breeders' Cup 2009. Her owner Jess Jackson does not like synthetic surfaces and it is rumored that it could cost Rachel the award. Regardless of who receives the horse of the year award, no one will ever take away Zenyatta’s historic moment and those of us that were part of it will cherish it for all time. Derby Lane offered the race via simulcast and it was sensational. Congratulations to all of Zenyatta’s connections.

The first round of the $20,000 Fall Juvenile was held Saturday night. McAllister kennel kicked off the first heat in race four with an outstanding win by Magic Porkchop who was moved back to 550-yards for the stakes. Porkchop showcased his late speed talent driving from last to first circling the field for a five-length victory paying $10.20 over the bet favorite Kiowa AK Richpie who ran third. Weekend news updated October 30wedding
Tri Super Jackpot over $10,800 for Friday night
Fall Juvenile starts Saturday October 31
Charter kennel remains on top
Join the Derby Lane Saturday night Fantasy greyhound league

Trick or Treat is October 31 and fans could get a treat early if they correctly select the winning combination in race 5 Friday night. A winning trifecta in race five gives fans a free entry to hit the jackpot if they correctly select the winning superfecta numbers in race seven. The jackpot starts at $10,898 Friday night.

The first of four qualifying rounds for the $20,000 Fall Juvenile stakes begins Saturday night in race four. Thirty-two youngsters who won their maiden start at Derby Lane between April 20 and October 10 of this year are eligible. Kiowa AK Richcry who is the litter-brother to the Fall Juvenile finalist Kiowa AK Richpie, drew the coveted rail post in race four. He faces off with Magic Porkchop that has been moved from the 660-yard course to compete in the event. KL Heart N Soul who recently returned after a short rest is sure to be a favorite. Prince Vance could surprise from a favorable eight box.

Race six features Magic Smoke and Duke of Davron who competed in two rounds of the Fall Sprint. Both have stakes experience. As Turbine Turns in post one and Career Goals in the three should score the high points.

M’s Dream Mary made it all the way to semifinals of the Fall Sprint. Her best race was in round two when she nearly held off last year’s All America Captain for the win. She gave a spectacular performance and was nosed out at the wire by Hallo Gold Acre who won the stakes. Mary’s outside post could prove beneficial for her. Deco Bull Rum is the early program favorite. Forever Together drew the five box and will be a betting favorite in the race.

The final qualifier for round one concludes in race ten. Kiowa AK Richpie who scored the most points in the Fall Sprint is an early favorite in the series. He just missed winning by a half-length Monday night from post three. He drew the four box that saw him go box to wire by seven-lengths from the same post earlier this month. Craigie Burns who went box to wire from post seven drew the three post for this event.

The greyhounds will earn points for their finishes and will compete again Wednesday night November 4. The field will be cut to sixteen on Wednesday. Point allocations are as follows: Win = 16 points, 2nd = 10 points, 3rd = 8 points, 4th = 6 points, 5th = 3 points, 6th = 2 points, 7th = 1 point and 8th = 0 points.

Charter kennel remains on top of the standings heading into the weekend with 189 wins since July 1. Wayne Ward kennel is closing the gap with 174 winners. Patriot kennel has 165 wins followed by the former top McAllister kennel with 157 wins and nipping at McAllister’s heels is Lester Raines with 154 wins rounding out the top five kennels.

Join greyhound fans from across the country and around the world each Saturday night by entering your picks in the Fantasy greyhound league hosted by Kcimagemakers. Last week over 40 players signed up to create the highest number during a single week. I have bragging rights and finished among the top five. Can I do it again this week? I sure hope so. Million Dollar babies debuting, Greys Calibrator pups on trackwedding
Lamorge Streaker schools Friday

Greyhounds are like pumpkings, they come in all sizes. Thank you to Rising Stars kennel for submitting the photo (right). Greyhounds are Phillip & Cosmo.

While buyers were in Kansas at the fall meet D’Arcy kennel in St. Petersburg, FL was schooling promising pups whelped from Derby Lane’s first Million Dollar champion Greys Calibrator (Craigie Whistler x Greys Nose Dive). Derby Lane’s current track record holder Trent Lee who scorched the track in record time of 29.59 in 2006 sired calibrator’s pups. Trent Lee clocked the time four days after Greys Calibrator won the Million Dollar stakes.

Wednesday matinee Sovereign Lady won her maiden in her third official start. She recorded two-second place finishes before dominating Wednesday’s race by seven lengths. Her brother Sovereign Lord won his maiden debut by thirteen-lengths on October 21. Wednesday night he was crowded and came back to place third by two lengths in his third official start. Tonight, a third littermate Sovereign Pearl makes her maiden debut in race four from post seven. A fourth pup, Sovereign Gold will be schooling soon. “We’re really excited to have her pups on track,” said kennel owner and trainer Mick D’Arcy. So are our Derby Lane fans who watched their mother dominate the series and beat a male dominated field to collect the first place prize of $500,000 on March 4, 2006. We wish the D’Arcy’s the best of luck with Calibrator’s pups that are not eligible for the Fall Juvenile that starts this Saturday night. However, the pups will be eligible for next spring’s Gold Trophy stakes.

Other news:
Lamorge Streaker has been entered in Friday night’s schooling race. The phenomenal female suffered a minor injury in round three of the Fall Sprint last month and was pulled from semifinals. She is rested and ready and competes in the first schooling race Friday night October 30.

Djays Octane aces Derby Lane debut
Oct. 30 & 31 final weekend for 1/2 price buffet promotion

Trainers have until Wednesday to present their final selections for the upcoming $20,000 Fall Juvenile that starts Saturday night October 31. This race is for the youngsters who won a maiden race at Derby Lane between April 20 and October 10, 2009. The starting lineup will be featured Oct. 31 and Nov. 4. The field will be sliced to 16 for two semifinals on Nov. 7 & Nov. 11. The stakes race final is Saturday night November 14 and is the last 550-yard stakes race of the year.

Newcomer Djays Octane has made an impressionable debut at Derby Lane. The Arkansas import was sent to Derby Lane to challenge our local athletes as he prepares for the 660-yard challenge in December. Octane aced his debut last Wednesday night from post six topped off by a second win Saturday night from post two. The 75-pound male has added additional fuel to the top Charter kennel that remains over 20 wins on top. Wayne Ward kennel is second followed by Patriot, McAllister and Raines rounding out the top five kennels.

Charter trainer Daniel Asbury was featured in the Oct. 24 St. Petersburg Times. The headline read Charter kennel trainer Danielle Asbury new on scene but head of pack at Derby Lane. The following is an excerpt:

ST. PETERSBURG — The humble, quiet trainer at kennel No. 16 would prefer not to be seen or heard. Her greyhounds frequent the winner's circle. And when a rival kennel owner was asked the most fascinating story of the Derby Lane meet, it took three guesses to name the subject — and he once employed her. If you don't know Danielle Asbury, boo on you.

Next news update is Oct. 26.

It’s Greyhound National time again and I’m heading to Abilene Kansas for a preview of prominent pups that will compete during the week with many featured in the auction on October 17. The NGA website lists all the events and the programs, results and races will be available on their site at http://www.ngagreyhounds.com

Highlighting the week-long celebration is the Greyhound Hall of Fame ceremonies Thursday night October 15. Derby Lane greyhound owner Kay Smith will become only the second woman in Greyhound history to become part of the sport’s history. Kay Smith has bred and raised some of the best greyhounds in the nation and arguably the world. She has raised many All Americans including her biggest success Kiowa Sweet Trey. Kay and her late husband Art owned K. E. Smith Greyhound kennel at Derby Lane in the late 80’s and their athlete Kiowa Meadro still owns the 770-yd. record of 44.19 set two decades ago on April 22, 1989. Congratulations to Kay Smith who is supplying several kennels at Derby Lane as well as other tracks in the nation. For more information on the Greyhound Hall of Fame visit

During the next two weeks Derby Lane’s future stars that won their maiden races between April 20 and October 10, 2009 will be preparing for the upcoming $20,000 Fall Juvenile stakes that starts Saturday night October 31. The five round series will conclude on Saturday night November 14 with another BIG CASH GIVEAWAY. Five fans will win $500 cash in drawings after races 2,4,6,8 and 10. More events listed on the left.

Charter kennel is about to unleash their newest prize. Djays Octane has joined the roster and will begin schooling soon. The Southland superstar that won the Razorback stakes over the 660-yard course on October 2 has been lured to Derby Lane for the $75,000 660-Yard Challenge in December. The son of Flying Penske x One More Secret is owned by Shelly Rangle and Herb Koerner. It has been several seasons since a greyhound has boasted dual distance lines like Octane has. His career record to date is highly impressive. Of his 81 starts he has won 44, ran 18 seconds, 9 thirds and 5 fourth place finishes. He won 10 of his last 14 races before shipping to St. Pete. Octane has competed in six stakes races in his career thus far. His powerful late strides could be a perfect fit with the Derby Lane oval. While I am away keep your eyes out for him in official schooling.

While waiting for an Octane sighting you might want to follow the progress of Move Over Tang. The male won impressively against a nice field on Oct. 10. It was a third win in six distance starts as the two year-old is also prepping for the upcoming distance stakes. Tang won the Anthony Downs stakes in KS before shipping back to St. Pete.

Greyhound Pets of America Tampa Bay known as GPA, Tampa Bay will be holding their annual Fall picnic Sunday November 1. Greyhound Pets of America is the largest single breed adoption group in the world with chapters nation wide. GPA/TB is the official adoption group of Derby Lane kennels. Come see former runners with their new owners. GPA/TB will have information on greyhound adoption for those that might not have a greyhound. It is always a blast to go see all the hounds. Hotdogs drinks and sausages will be provided. Bring your adopted greyhound-please greyhound pets only! The picnic is at lovely Phillipe Park in Safety Harbor, FL from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm. Covered dishes always welcome. Festivities include the blessing of the hounds, raffles and a Greyhound hat contest. For all the details visit

Charter flying in top spot
Youngsters prepare for Fall Juvenilewedding
Top dogs going the distance to prep for 660-Challenge
Derby Lane Saturday night Fantasy League

Charter trainer Danielle Asbury is keeping the kennels at bay and continues her top reign in the standings. The young Asbury is currently 10 wins in front of the Ward kennel that on any given week could threaten the top kennel’s spot. Patriot kennel is a close third followed by McAllister who is 19 wins behind in fourth place. Lester Raines rounds out the top five. According to Asbury Bills Are Due is her top distance racer for now and Upcomin Design her best juvenile from last meet, (see photo). Recently Asbury was refueled with pups from Ron Wiltse. They are making their way up the graded ladder. Asbury’s leading juvenile is Super Nickey that she plans to enter for the upcoming the Fall Juvenile.

Once again Derby Lane offers a great weekend of racing. The veterans and the youngsters are prepping for the final two stakes races of the year. The juveniles will take center stage Halloween Night in the first round of the third annual Fall Juvenile. Saturday October 10 is the last day that a pup will have to win a maiden to be eligible for the stakes. To be eligible for this year’s event a greyhound must have been 24 months of age or younger while winning their maiden race between April 20, 2009 and October 9, 2009.

While the youngsters are getting ready to hog the spotlight several of the top grade sprinters will be moving to the longer course to test their skills for the upcoming 660-yard challenge that begins December 6. Saturday night features two top grade 660-yard races full of contenders. TMC’s Remedy who won the $100,000 Distance Classic earlier this year and Kiowa Knockout-the Naples stakes winner, are among the eighth race field. This race could be a stakes round with Backwood Nan a dual distance beauty who lit the board in the Distance Classic and the St. Pete Derby and was the runner up in the Gold Trophy Juvenile.

Flying Ochoa makes her distance debut at Derby Lane in this race, but the female is established over the longer course. Ochoa won over St. Pete Derby champion WW’s Deathvalley during one of the rounds of the Hollywoodian earlier this year. Odd Inspector is also among the group. This will be the first time in the male’s career that he extends over the longer course. Move Over Tang who had his sights set on the Dec. stakes since his arrival will be tested in this top grade group. Tang won a juvenile stakes in KS before shipping to St. Pete. He has had trouble in his past two top grade races.

Race 12 Saturday night features Charter’s Bills Are Due and last week’s Fall Sprint finalist Kiowa AK Richpie who won his first distance start on Wednesday. Magic Smoke and RX Cowboy are seeking three in row over the long distance course.

Derby Lane’s Saturday night Fantasy Greyhound League, hosted by Kcimagemakers.com has been gaining momentum. It is great fun and a good way to learn to handicap races and become more familiar with the track stars. Winners must be submitted by 7:00pm, EST each Saturday. Hallo Gold Acre lives up to Team Captain title in $50,000 Fall Sprintwedding

Celebrations were in order in Florida Saturday night October 3 in both St. Petersburg and Miami when Hallo Gold Acre thrilled fans by capturing the $50,000 Fall Sprint stakes at Derby Lane. The 2008 All America Team Captain sparkled in the winner’s circle after capturing his fourth career stakes. Trainer and kennel co-owner John Filipelli accepted the trophy in St. Petersburg while his partners James “Barney” O’Donnell and wife Pauline enjoyed the festivities via simulcast at Mardi Gras that is set to start a new season on November 1.

Last year Gold Acre won America’s heart despite a four-month layoff. He recorded 41 out of 48 races ranking him second in the nation in 2008. Gold Acre was the crown jewel of Mardi Gras and has continued the family legacy of historic marks. His grandsire Dominator, also handled by Filipelli, became the first greyhound in American history to capture the Royal Rube, Flashy Sir and All America Team Captain in 2000. His father HalloWest Acre is the only greyhound in Mardi Gras history to appear in three consecutive World Classic stakes finals against the best in the nation in 2004-2006 capturing the 2005 stakes title. Gold Acre’s dam TM’s Gold Digger was a top grade racer in WV.

Hallo Gold Acre has acquired quite a portfolio and will be among America’s elite nominated for a spot on this year’s All America Team. Photo L to R: Derby Lane President Vey O. Weaver, Kennel co-owner and trainer John Filipelli, kennel assistants Paul Giguere, David Keck and Davina Malpass. The leadout is Yendes Ortega.

McAllister seeks third consecutive Fall Sprint title race 10 Saturday night
Join the Derby Lane Saturday night fantasy league

It’s going to be a great weekend of racing at Derby Lane. FIVE lucky fans will take home $500 each during our Cash giveaway Saturday night. Fans must be 18 years of age or older to enter and one entry per person. You must be present to win. Gates open at 6:30 for the Sat. night races and all entries in the box before 7:40PM will have a shot at all five drawings to be held after races 2,4,6,8 & 10.

The third annual $50,000 Fall Sprint stakes will be held in race ten Saturday night. The elite eight earned their posts after four rounds of competition. There were lots of upsets during the entire series that included the scratch of the track's win leader Lamorge Streaker in Wednesday's semifinals. Streaker sustained a toe injury in round three that kept her from competing in semifinals.

The McAllister kennel holds the two-year stakes reign. In 2007 Million Dollar champion Flying Stanley scored the win in the stakes and last year Flying Macbeth captured the title. McAllister's entry Saturday night is Kiowa Neon Nick who scored 36 points in the series. Nick had one win in the series from the eight
box and will need some luck from post four to pull off a hat trick for the kennel.

Kiowa AK Richpie is the youngest in the field. He earned the most points (46) with back to back wins in
semifinals. He has had amazing luck with the draw and will break from the two post for a fourth time in the five round event for Patriot kennel. Richpie has been highly underestimated throughout the series and could finally earn the respect he deserves. Kay Smith of OK is co-owner of Richpie. A win with him would sweeten her induction into the National Greyhound Hall of Fame on October 15 in Abilene, KS. Smith has contributed much to the industry and raised and owned several national award winners including the late Kiowa Sweet Trey who sired McAllister's entry Kiowa Neon Nick. Smith becomes only the third female inducted into the Greyhound Hall of Fame. Visit www.greyhoundhalloffame.com

Flying Ochoa is one of two females in the stakes. She won two of the four rounds scoring 36 points in the series. She will wear the coveted red blanket that could give D'Arcy a first Fall Sprint victory. D'Arcy has captured stakes with many of his leading ladies that included Million Dollar champion Greys Calibrator and All American Dreamy Blossom.

Lester Raines kennel will have two shots at the title with Bonafide Top Dog (3) and Kelsos Scotsclan (5). Top Dog drew the three post and will be looking to get to the outside that could allow the inside runners to get a clean run to the turn. Bonafide Top Dog grabbed top points in round one that helped him get to semifinals. His second place finish in round four secured his entry with 37 points. Kelsos Scotsclan is the brother of last year's Fall Juvenile champion Kelsos Hathaway. Scotsclan has his work cut out for him when he seeks the title from the middle of the pack. Scotsclan also earned 37 points in the series.

Filipelli & O'Donnell's Hallo Gold Acre (8) was last year's All America Team Captain. The Mardi Gras
stakes champion seeks a first Derby Lane title. Gold Acre is the oldest contender in the final and pulled off a must win in round two after a spill in round one nearly elimated the national champ. Gold Acre pulled off a second win in Wednesday’s semifinal round that earned him a second win in the series advancing him to the final with 38 points.

Backwood Terri is the second female in the field. She is the sister of Backwood Cash and Backwood Hombre-both stakes finalists during the past year. Terri could become the first of the litter to capture a stakes title. She earned 35 points for Campbell Greyhound Racing with a win, second, third and a seventh
place finish.

Capabal kennel's LL's Dormarbuddy will be a longshot from the seven post, but is highly capable of scoring the win if he finds racing room. Dormarbuddy scored 29 points in the series and is the only one of the eight that did not win a qualifying round in the series.

$50,000 Fall Sprint semifinals Wednesday night
Don’t forget the Twin Trifecta Jackpot is forced out every Wednesday night

It’s down to the sweet sixteen for the semifinal round of qualifying for the $50,000 Fall Sprint at Derby Lane. Lester Raines Kelsos Scotsclan (Gable Dodge x Kelsos Gabriella) and D’Arcy kennel’s Flying Ochoa (Lonesome Cry x Flying Gazette) top the list with 34 points each. The two will go paw to paw for the final points in race six tonight to kick off the semifinals. Lamorge Streaker is also in the sixth race. The track’s leading lady and fan favorite fell in round three. She was vet checked afterwards. She goes into the semifinals with the lowest point total (12) and even a victory among this field would not be a guarantee for a stakes slot.

Patriot’s Kiowa AK Richpie is also a strong contender with 30 points before tonight’s sixth race. Richpie is lethal when he gets loose and if he succeeds from the two post he will earn his stakes slot. Bow Tie Brigade will wear the coveted red blanket, but is also low in points with 13. He is in a must win situation and like Streaker, isn’t guaranteed a slot in the final with a victory. Kiowa El Cougar has gotten out quickly but his outside racing style has kept him from scoring more points. Law’s Crusader would prefer to have drawn the inside post and will need a benefit to score the win points among this field. Jiminy Pickle is sitting with 18 points and will need a top finish to move to the final.

The tenth race features Kiowa Neon Nick who has 30 points-the most among the eight in his race. Bonafide Top Dog, a second Raines entry, is sixth high in points with 27 and drew favorably in the seven post. Hallo Gold Acre-the oldest among the field, needs a win to secure his entry in the stakes. Backwood Teri will be a favorite despite the four post she drew. Ultimate Notice is winless but his consistency could earn him a post if he finishes in the top. LL’s Dormarbuddy is also winless in the series, but another second place finish for him will guarantee him a shot at the prize money. M’s Dream Mary would have preferred an inside post and might have trouble scoring top points from her six post. Dewey Millions will seek the win from the eight post. He needs a win and no less than a second to even be in contention for advancement.

The top eight point-getters will be announced right here on Vera’s News immediately following the tenth race tonight. Best of luck to everyone!

More upsets in Fall Sprint

Horses include Arlington, Belmont, Calder, Golden Gate, Hoosier, Louisiana, Monmouth, Philadelphia and Turfway. And we also feature Miami Jai Alai action. Poker room open until 1:00 am.

Saturday night’s fall sprint saw more upsets in the third round of the stakes qualifiers. Bonafide Top Dog who wore the red blanket, was trying to get to the outside in the first turn when he collided with Lamorge Streaker, Bow tie Brigade and Jiminy Pickle. Flying Ochoa earned a second set of win points for the upset and was followed by LL’s Dormarbuddy, M’s Dream Mary and Hallo Gold Acre who completed the superfecta. Fifth through eighth was Bonafide Top Dog, Bow Tie Brigade and Jiminy Pickle. Although she fell Lamorge Streaker finished the race and was checked over by the track veterinarian afterwards. Although she is all right, don’t be too surprised if she is scratched from the Wednesday race.

The second heat was in race ten and saw Kiowa El Cougar jump to the lead and put forth a winning effort. The co-favorites Kiowa Neon Nick was second and Kelsos Scotsclan were third in the backstretch. Cougar’s wide racing style allowed Neon Nick to pass him as they rounded the far turn. Nick pulled away with Scotsclan on his heels. A photo finish awarded Neon Nick the top points. Scotsclan, Kiowa AK Richpie, Ultimate Notice, Kiowa El Cougar, Dewey Millions, Backwood Terri and Law’s Crusader completed the field.

The draw and posts for Wednesday’s semifinal round will be held Monday night in the Racing office and posted right here on Vera’s News before it goes to print. Below are the current point totals of the sweet sixteen.

It’s going to be a great weekend at Derby Lane where the third round of the $50,000 Fall Sprint will be held Saturday night. Bonafide Top Dog, Jiminy Pickle and Hallo Gold Acre all scored a victory in the first two rounds and need to secure another set of win points to take the pressure off. Among their field is Lamorge Streaker who also needs a first win in the series to put herself out of danger of elimination. Bow Tie Brigade also needs to perform well as he carries a fifth and a third thus far. LL’s Dormarbuddy who ran a second back up by a fourth is also in need of top points to put him in a better position.

Race ten features several of the top point getters including Backwood Terri who leads the field with 26. Kelsos Scotsclan and Dewey Millions are also favorites in this field. Tri Super Jackpot for Monday night is $44,278
Raines kennel wins pair of qualifiers in round one upset

The Tri Super jackpot continues to grow. Saturday night’s winning trifecta numbers in race 5 were 6-1-8 that only ten players had. The back half-superfecta combination in race 7 was 4-3-7-2 headed by Ward kennel’s WW The Endisnigh. First post Monday night is 7:30 pm.

Stakes racing was the highlight of the weekend with the first round under their belts the winners are guaranteed to make Wednesday’s cut. Lester Raines trainer Ken Lesperance watched both his entries score back to back victories from the outside eight post. Kelsos Scotsclan won race eight and Bonafide top dog won the tenth race. Patriot kennel scored a win with Kiowa AK Richpie and D’Arcy’s Flying Ochoa also won their qualifier.

Kiowa AK Richpie earned the first set of win points with a spectacular performance that saw him pick off the leaders and leave the field in a seven length-wake in the homestretch. The longest shot on the board Kiowa WL Cougar shot to the lead, but felt pressure from the closing Richpie that passed El Moonstruck who was behind Cougar and then overtook Cougar before the far turn. Richpie pulled away for the win that paid $16.80 to his backers. Kiowa El Cougar’s second place finish paid $19.60. El Moonstruck finished third followed by Nimby Eduardo, Bow tie Brigade, Kentucky Jake, Lamorge Aces Up and Upcomin Design. There was lots of early jamming that saw the favorite Lamorge Aces Up blocked several times and Upcomin Design nearly fell in the far turn.

The next heat in race six saw LL’s Dormarbuddy take the lead with Flying Ochoa in hot pursuit. Hallo Gold Acre was making a big move in the far turn when he tangled with Kiowa RF Preston and fell. Dormarbuddy was pressured at the wire and lost to Flying Ochoa the bet favorite. Ultimate Notice finished third followed by Magic Smoke, Kiowa RF Preston, M’s Dream Mary, Jiminy Pickle and Hallo Gold Acre.

Lamorge Streaker was the expected winner that also fell prey to bad racing luck in the eighth race. The second favorite Kelsos Scotsclan broke second behind Backwood Terri who led to the stretch. Scotsclan drove by and extended the lead by three at the wire. Third place went to Duke Of Davron and Law’s Crusader completed the superfecta. Fifth through eighth place went to RG’s Tuscany, Lamorge Streaker, WW’s Fox Hunter and Jack’s Gladiator.

The tenth race saw Raines score a pair of wins from the eight box when Bonafide Top Dog drove around to beat Dewey Millions on the outside. Dewey led most of the way before Top Dog snatched it away. Kiowa Neon Nick was third followed by Blind By Thirst, WW’s Tin Man, Millys Uncle, Hays Casanova and Deco Caraways.

The next rounds are Wednesday night September 23 where the field will be sliced to 16. The draw for the Wednesday night races will be held Monday night and will be posted here on Vera’s News shortly thereafter for an early bird sneak peek.

Other news:
Cal Holland kennel’s Spirit Fire was the 90-1 winner last Friday night in race 11. The soon to be two year-old went box to wire and held by a nose to pay $183.20 to win, $46.00 to place and $13.80 to show.

They must select the correct Superfecta combination in race 7 to collect their winnings in the Tri Super wager.

Charter kennel is pulling away in the standings and heads into the weekend with 131 wins; 19 in front of McAllister, who has 112 followed by both Ward and Patriot tied with 111 wins each. Lester Raines rounds out the top five with 91 wins.

All the stars are out this weekend where the first major stakes of the season will get underway. The first round of the $50,000 Fall Sprint will be featured in races 4, 6, 8 and 10 Saturday night. The playing field is level with each of the sixteen kennels represented by two entries. At the top of the list is Alderson kennel’s Lamorge Streaker who is among the favorites heading into the series. She is the current win leader with over 170 career starts and 100 quiniela finishes in those starts. She drew the coveted rail post in race 8. Before Streaker heads to post Upcomin Design and Lamorge Aces Up will battle for the top points in race 4.

Race six features Hallo Gold Acre and Kiowa RF Preston that are seeking a third win in his past four starts. The first round will conclude in race ten where Millys Uncle is sure to be a favorite along with WW’s Tin Man that is seeking the hat trick in the top grade. Bonafide Top Dog could come after them at the end.

$50,000 Fall Sprint Round #1 draw Tonight-Posted here at approx. 8:00 PM, est. tonight

The Tri Super jackpot continues to grow and will start at $32,705 when the windows open for the fifth race Thursday night. Kiowa Lucas does like an inside box and although he won’t wear the red blanket, he is close enough in post two to make an impact. WSR Dac Attack a shipper from Orange Park could surprise from the rail. Bella Ball a consistent money finisher can’t be discarded from the fifth race ticket. The back half of the Tri Super in race seven could see Celtic Dream move back to grade C. Hi Noon Showboat could glide into a superfecta finish as well as Kaias Spinner and Jack’s Viper.

Last night’s Twin Trifecta jackpot was forced out, as it is every Wednesday night. Fans that played the 8-3-7 combination in race 11 headed by Forever Together earned a back half entry. Everyone that had an exchange for the back half collected $92.80 for the (all-all-all). Congratulations!

Tonight will be the draw for the first round of the $50,000 Fall Sprint that starts Saturday night. The third annual stakes will feature two entries from each of the sixteen kennels to make up the thirty-two starters. The greyhounds will compete in two rounds and then the field will be sliced to sixteen. Two more rounds will be held and the top eight point-getters will fill the eight posts for the third annual stakes. The races in post order will be listed right here on Vera’s News at approximately 7:30 pm tonight so you can start handicapping early for the Saturday night Fantasy League!

Thursday night notes:
Race 2: Don’t quite know what’s up with Picou. After acing her schoolers and maiden debut, she is struggling. She might be a front or nothing type of racer. She is in the eight box tonight where she won from of her schoolers from. Jack’s Lightning is looking for her first win of the new meet and could go box to wire if she uses her quick-breaking style.
Race 3: Super C Mamie gave a winning effort last outing and could score her maiden win in this field.
Race 4: Jack’s Train is going for the hat trick but might get derailed if Lamorge Venus gets out early.
Race 5: First half of the Tri Super. It is worth a wager with a jackpot over $32,000.
Race 6: Silver Rumor gave a winning effort and just missed two in a row her last start. She will be a favorite as well as USS Obedience and Flying Mr. Sir that could be the 6th race trifecta.
Race 7: For those that make it through the first half of the Tri Super Hi Noon Showboat will entice them from the rail post. Kaias Spinner the veteran of the field is sure to get a lot of play as well as Celtic Dream who has been a superfecta finisher in four of her past six starts and Jack’s Viper who tried hard last.
Race 8: RK’s Narcissus gave winning effort last start from the outside. She is in the two tonight, but has run well from inside before.
Race 9: USS Happy Camper is looking for three in a row on his way to the top of the graded ladder. The pup and his littermates sired by Flying Stanley are looking pretty impressive. Camper is in a field of experienced veterans and courses the 550-yard oval for a third official start.
Race 10: MN’s West Ten is 14 of 18 in the money for Alderson. The male has the most consistent lines of the group, but is competing in grade A for the first time. Flying Regent is the class of the field and will be the betting favorite.
Race 11: USS He’s So Fine is the brother to Happy Camper in race 9.
Race 15: Donatello competes in his first late race. The young pup scored a maiden victory last start in his third official trip. His biggest threat could come from Rooftop Slim To that is a double grade drop seeking the final win of the evening.

Twin Trifecta Jackpot forced out every Wednesday night Matinee jackpot $2,246
Law’s Crusader seeks top grade win Wednesday matinee
Law’s Titan back on track Wednesday night
Flying Coal City back to 660 Wednesday night

The Tri Super Jackpot has swelled to over $28,000 for the Wednesday matinee performance. The wager is played in races 5 & 7. Fans correctly selecting the trifecta in the 5th race will get an exchange ticket to select the correct superfecta numbers in the 7th race.

The Twin Trifecta jackpot is forced out EVERY Wednesday night. The wager is played in races 11 & 13. Even if the jackpot is hit during Wednesday afternoon the money wagered Wednesday night towards the jackpot is forced out.

Last Friday night fans watched Capabal kennel’s Law’s Titan scorch the track in a box to wire run and nudge out the 30.39 season’s best to record the new 30.37. Titan will compete in race 6 and will wear the red blanket to post at night. Titan’s litter-brother Law’s Crusader will attempt to collect the top grade win during Wednesday matinee’s 6th race against Upcomin Design. Several of today’s top grade racers competing during the doubleheader will reappear in Saturday’s first round of the Fall Sprint.

Flying Coal City who previously held the season’s 550-yard and currently holds the best 660-yard time has been moved back to the longer run. He was moved to the shorter sprint after recording three consecutive distance wins. Coal City is matched against his kennelmate Magic Porkchop seeking the hat trick and Distance Classic champion TMC’s Remedy looking for two in a row in race 8.

Wednesday matinee notes:
Race 1: Abernathy kennel has been winning races this week and Chaska Subzero, who has had a two month rest, could bring in the first half of the Daily Double.
Race 2: Wet Our Whistle needs to break out on top to hold on for a win against USS Holy Roller seeking a back to back victory in the back half of the Double.
Race 4: PH Tempo Teaser is a maiden on the rise. The juvenile competes in his 13th career run seeking a fifth win and a tenth money finish.
Race 5: The first half of the Tri Super could see Bob’s Audi drive to victory. Rooftop Ringo To is returning after nearly three months off. He could surprise.
Race 6: Law’s Crusader is the brother to the fastest thus far Law’s Titan. Crusader will look for the top grade win from post 2. Upcomin Design is posted well on the rail. Red I Micro might be over his head, but one can’t ignore that he has won half of his past six starts.
Race 7: Taylor Swift could sing a winning tune and head the field in the back half of the Tri Super.
Race 8: Little E Nation is overdue for a win. He is highly capable in this field.
Race 9: Kiowa Trent is seeking the hat trick. She appears to be a promising pup and will course the oval in her fourth official start.
Race 10: KB’s Power Play has been a favorite since his arrival from WV. He appears to be geared for the FL oval. His consistent money finishes should make him a favorite along with Hays Casanova.
Race 12: Lamorge Red Fish is due for a win and should be able to take on this field.

Wednesday night notes:
Race 1: Move Over Tang is a consistent late superfecta finisher. Tang could appear over the longer course in the near future.
Race 4: Sheza Mary Run is back in post two; the same post that saw her win six starts ago. She is one of the few that has reached the top grade.
Race 5: Kiowa Shagginboy has disappointed of late but should be snapping out of it for a win. He has the ability to leave this grade D field in his dust.
Race 6: Law’s Titan who set the season’s fastest last week faces off with last year’s Fall Juvenile champion Kelsos Hathaway. Backwood Teri is also in the field and can’t be ignored.
Race 8: TMC’s Remedy, Magic Porkchop & Flying Coal City.
Race 10: Kiowa Neon Nick is the only solid grade A runner in this B field. Nick should ace the race. His biggest obstacle could be Lostlands Roughey who is 11 of 13 in the money.
Race 11: Kiowa RF Preston is seeking the hat trick against Super Nickey who recorded four win in his past six starts. Both seek the win in the first half of the Twin Trifecta. The jackpot is forced out every Wednesday night.
Race 13: Nimby Eduardo is going for three in a row in the back half of the Twin Trifecta. The jackpot is forced out this race and many weeks have paid an (all-all-all). Kiowa AK Richpie has the best money stats among the field. Backwood Nan gave a winning effort last and could put forth the same effort tonight.

Tri Super Jackpot starts $27,264 Tuesday night
Dewey Millions eyes top grade win
Stakes winners schooling Tuesday
Lamorge Streaker ready for Fall Sprint
Kiowa Class Boy turns in speedy time Monday

Tuesday night’s top grade races feature more sprinters who will more than likely end up in the first round of the $50,000 stakes this Saturday night. Dewey Millions hopes to follow the lead of his kennelmate Lamorge Streaker and score the top grade win tonight before the stakes series begin. Dewey will have his work cut out for him in race six with LL’s Dormarbuddy also seeking the win and Lomesome Hank looking for a top grade repeat. Poppy Harlow hopes to secure a third win in her past four starts.

Last year’s Gold Trophy champion Craigie Mr Venus and this year’s Night of Stars champion Hi Noon Hypnotic are among the 12 Tuesday night schooling races. Venus could be returning just in time for the Fall Sprint. Hypnotic has run the 550-yard but his usual distance is 660. Hypnotic’s full litterbrother Hi Noon Hero was the recent winner in the George Kellas Memorial stakes held at Wheeling Island in WV.

Derby Lane’s top dog Lamorge Streaker competed in her 170th career race Monday night (Sept. 14) to record a 68th career win that gave her 100 quiniela finishes. Her win was impressive as she shot to the front and left the field in an eight-length wake. Not only did she win; Streaker kept Millys Uncle boasting an impressive 13 of 15 money finishes this meet, from collecting four in a row. Streaker’s victory was her 12th this meet of 18 starts since July. The Alderson kennel female is preparing for the first round of the $50,000 Fall Sprint that begins Saturday night September 19. Streaker (Kiowa Sweet Trey x Hammerhead Doris) will turn four years old in November and continues to impress by beating rivals half her age as many in Monday night’s races were. Her career record to date is 170/68-32-17-11.

And, speaking of the upcoming Fall Sprint Patriot kennel’s Kiowa Class Boy is also eyeing the stakes. Kiowa Class Boy (Flying Penske x Kiowa Classylady) turned in an impressive performance Monday night that moved him back to the top grade. Boy’s time of 30.39 matched the previous best 550-yard time. Along with Boy’s victory Patriot’s Kiowa Hy Halla and Tapco Habanero added to the kennel’s three wins Monday.

Tuesday notes:
Race 5: First half of the Tri Super. Fans selecting the correct trifecta (first three finishers) combination will get a shot to score the jackpot starting over $27,000 Tonight. Kiowa Fourtappin (5) set the pace last time and could go all the way in this field. M’s Dream Hope (1) could clear trouble from her inside post. It would be hard to leave out Eye See You Now (4) who has been a solid superfecta finisher.
Race 6: Dewey Millions, LL’s Dormarbuddy and Lonesome Hank could score the trifecta in this race.
Race 7: Race 5 winners who have an exchange ticket to play this race could go home with thousands of dollars if their superfecta combination comes in. WW’s Snowcone (6) could head the field. He is down two grades. Winnie Bones (3) a recent Southland import has lit the board in all five of her starts. Although she was in trouble last El Saffron (4) was competitive in grade C and has been as high as grade A before. It’s hard to discount SOS Ernie (2) who has run respectable races in higher grades.
Race 8: Backwood Cash is as fast as he wants to be but the question is always, “does he want to run tonight?” He could take the field, but he has been in a slump for so long that he might get passed by. CTW Inside Man doesn’t appear to want the win, but he is a good show play.
Race 10: Kiowa Class King could score a win like his flashy brother Kiowa Class Boy who scorched the track Monday night.

Tri Super Jackpot starts at $24,990 Monday
Lamorge Streaker and Flying Ochoa highlight Monday cardwedding
Patriot and Abernathy rally in weekend races
Law’s Titan claims new seasons best

The Tri Super is growing and will start over $24,000 for the Monday night card. The wager is placed in races 5 by selecting the correct trifecta (first three). Then the winners will get an entry into the back half of the wager in race 7 and need to select the correct superfecta finish (first four).

The greyhounds are prepping for the first round of the $50,000 Fall Sprint to begin Saturday night September 19. Among those lining up will be Derby Lane’s top sprinter Lamorge Streaker who competes in race six Monday night. Streaker has run into a non-winning streak of late and hopes to get back on track for the upcoming series. Monday night it will be a battle of the sexes when Millys Uncle challenges Streaker. Uncle is going for four in a row. The two will be side by side at the break with Streaker in the seven and Uncle in the eight. Both are quick starters. While the two battle for the front Jack’s Gladiator could get loose from the rail.

The recent heavy rains along with raw talent are contributing to the several seasons best times clocked recently. Flying Ochoa who clocked a scorching 30.39 last Wednesday held the seasons best for two days when it was nudged last Friday. Ochoa is among the D’Arcy entries eyeing the prize in the Fall Sprint. Ochoa is the class of the field in the 10th race Monday night.

Fierce competition was seen over the weekend racing where Abernathy and Patriot dominated the wins and collected seven each. The top Charter kennel remains in the lead with 120 wins. Ward kennel posted 5 wins over the weekend that moved him back in a two-way tie with McAllister for second place with 109 wins each. Patriot kennel has 105 and Raines is hanging on to fifth with 85 wins.

Capable kennel’s Law’s Titan nudged Ochoa’s best time and recorded a new 30.37 last Friday night. The three year old brindle male from Kiowa Sweet Trey x Law’s Rigger went box to wire from the four post to cinch the 12th race win by five lengths. L.B. Laskoske of Richmond TX and L. Wadlington of Milano TX own Titan.

Monday notes:
Race 2: Picou is a pup that should not be overlooked in this back half of the Daily Double. The recent maiden graduate should ace this grade D event.
Race 4: Hallo Cool Cobra and WW’s Brenda are the likely quiniela in this field.
Race 5: USS He’s So Fine is back in the same outside eight post that saw him go box to wire in his maiden debut last week.
Race 6: Lamorge Streaker vs. Millys Uncle. Don’t discount Jack’s Gladiator who will be lethal if he gets loose from the rail post.
Race 10: Flying Ochoa is the class of the field. She boasts a perfect 16 of 16 money finishes this meet and clocked a seasons best in her last outing.

Attention Racing Fans
The Friday September 11 schooling races only saw four completed before rains washed the remaining event. The greyhounds scheduled will reappear in the Tuesday September 15 schoolers. The first four races are available in the schooling results. The races that were not held will have “scratched” after each greyhound name.

Flying Ochoa clocks season’s best
Greys Calibrator pups arrive at Derby Lane
Charter is eleven wins in front for weekend racing
Tri Super starts at $19,485 for weekend racing

Flying Ochoa has turned the spotlight on the D’Arcy kennel for the upcoming $50,000 Fall Sprint. The dark brindle female scorched the track Wednesday night Sept. 9, setting a new season’s best time of 30.39. The two and a half year-old by Lonesome Cry x Flying Gazette shot out on top from the three post to extend her lead by six at the wire. Owned by Rising Stars, Inc. Flying Ochoa has been a top dog at every track she has competed at and boasts a perfect 16 of 16 money finishes this meet.

Flying Ochoa began her career at Palm Beach last year and went directly from M to A undefeated. She was also a semifinalist in the Dick Andrews stakes. She took a short rest and reappeared at Mardi Gras this year where she made it all the way to semifinals of the World Classic. She was moved to the backside where she competed in three rounds of the Hollywoodian. After Mardi Gras Ochoa made her way to Derby Lane and began competing in June. Since the new meet, Ochoa has been a solid trifecta finisher. Flying Ochoa is sure to be among the D’Arcy entries for next week’s first round of the Fall Sprint.

Greyhound racing’s first Million Dollar champion Greys Calibrator presents her first litter of pups at Derby Lane. How fitting for the Million Dollar champion to present her pups to the track that held the historic race that Calibrator won. The papers were turned into the Racing office this week. Sired by Trent Lee the foursome includes Sovereign Gold, Sovereign Lady, Sovereign Lord and Sovereign Pearl. The pups will begin official schooling soon.

Last week Charter kennel entered the weekend one win in front of the Ward kennel. Through September 10 the Danielle Asbury trained athletes have pulled eleven wins in front in the standings. McAllister kennel rallied to nudge Ward out of second place and is two in front of Ward. Patriot is holding on to fourth followed by Lester Raines kennel wrapping up the fifth place position.

Gandolfini lounges in Washingtonwedding
$50,000 Fall Sprint starts Saturday September 19
Next cash giveaway is October 3
Five fans win $500 each
Greyhound Pets annual picnic is November 1

It is no secret that our athletes are also wonderful companion animals and make great pets. As fast as they race on track, they are equally as fast to adapt to a new family. Thousands of greyhounds are adopted each year after they are finished racing. One such greyhound is Gandolfini, a.k.a. Fini, at his new home in Fox Island, Washington. Gandolifini last raced at Derby Lane in 2004. The nine year-old male lives with the Ingram’s that adopted Gandolfini. Their other pet Carmel, who is a mini longhair daschund, loves Gandolfini. Carmel had no problem allowing Gandolfini to join the family and loves him dearly. According to Bob the two are known as Frick and Frack off the track.

Thank you Bob for sending the photo of Gandolfini, who last raced in 2004 for the LaRosa kennel. Have you adopted a former Derby Lane racer? Send me a photo along with some information on what the greyhound is doing. He or she could be featured on Vera’s News. I know first hand how greyt they are. I will be bringing my own former racer home when he is finished. Hessian Soldier, who didn’t turn in a very good performance on Labor Day isn’t quite ready for the couch, but will be in my home when he is done racing. He really enjoys suiting up and competing. He might not be the fastest, but he thinks he wins them all. If you would like to talk to Bob regarding how wonderful greyhounds are as pets you can find him on Twitter as Islandboybob.

$50,000 Fall Sprint will begin Saturday night September 19. There are a lot of nice hounds prepping for the upcoming stakes. After the Labor Day races anything is possible in the stakes. Monday Lamorge Streaker was upset and Flying Coal City was blocked keeping the two early favorites from scoring wins. They are still two of the early favorites for the upcoming stakes.

Our next cash giveaway is Saturday night October 3. The highlight of the evening will be the stakes final for the $50,000 Fall Sprint and five fans will collect $500 each in cash drawings after races 2,4,6,8 and 10!

GPA/Tampa Bay will be hosting their annual fall picnic at Phillipe Park in Safety Harbor, FL. Sunday November 1. Hot dogs, sausages, and drinks will be provided. In addition to the food, there will be lots of activities, raffles, and a Blessing of the Hounds ceremony. Please plan to attend with your greyhound for a super fun day! Please, out of respect for our visitors, only bring your greyhound pet(s). Donations always welcome. Visit the www.greyhoundpets.com for more information.

Did you know?
Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well being of our country.
Labor

The first Labor Day holiday was celebrated on Tuesday, September 5, 1882, in New York City, in accordance with the plans of the Central Labor Union. The Central Labor Union held its second Labor Day holiday just a year later, on September 5, 1883. In 1884 the first Monday in September was selected as the holiday, as originally proposed, and the Central Labor Union urged similar organizations in other cities to follow the example of New York and celebrate a "workingmen's holiday" on that date. The idea spread with the growth of labor organizations, and in 1885 Labor Day was celebrated in many industrial centers of the country.

Along with the 15-race card the lure of the cash giveaway during the first ten races of the afternoon is sure to entice additional attendance. And you can bet that the $5.00 BBQ plate offering Chicken, Ribs or both along with baked beans, cole slaw and a drink will get a lot of play. Ten fans will win $200 each by drawing. Although the live racing is only during the afternoon the facility will remain open for simulcast wagering and poker play Monday night.

Ward kennel is nipping on Charter’s heels. Danielle Asbury is feeling the pressure as her Charter kennel is under pressure for the weekend. Wayne Ward trainer John Graham is just one win behind her heading into Friday night’s card. McAllister kennel is a close third with five wins from the top. Earlier this week McAllister’s Flying Coal City scorched the longer distance with a new season’s best to couple that with owning the best 550-yard time. What a pup! And, the male is eligible for all of the upcoming stakes races starting with the first stakes of the new season. The $50,000 Fall Sprint will begin Saturday night September 19 and feature 32 sprinters that will compete in four rounds. The top eight point-getters from the four rounds will fill the posts for the October 3 final.

Weekend notes:
Friday night
Race 2: Sheer Trouble is the first of several littermates in the D’Arcy kennel by Stan’s Boy Flyer x Fuzzys Virgina debuting this weekend sired.
Race 4: Chuggabug is Trouble’s littermate and seeks his maiden win from post five.
Race 6: Millys Uncle would not be denied the win last start and the rail post is favorable for him. Law’s Crusader can’t be discounted from the outside eight.
Race 8: Kiowa Class boy competes in his second distance race. He gave a fine effort last to finish third and could come away with a win from the rail. Hi Noon Halo, a litter sister to Hi Noon Hero that will compete in the George Kellas Memorial stakes in WV on Monday matinee, put forth a winning effort last start to take second.
Race 10: Backwood Terri and Deco Bull Rum should go paw to paw for the win. The two solid contenders could be challenged by WW’s Twitches who has been a trifecta finisher in five of her past six starts.
Race 14: Kiowa Maplesyrup could pay sweet if she can score the 66-yard win against He’s A Rocketman is the program favorite, but Backwood Gladys could win it all.

Saturday matinee
Race 1: Salsa Sadie could dancer her way to win the first race.
Race 2: Hello Nurse is another of the D’Arcy kennel littermates debuting this weekend. Kiowa Trent Tazz who ran a nice third in his first maiden race earlier this week.
Race 4: Donatello is yet another pup from D’Arcy making a maiden debut.
Race 6: Dewey Millons should be the favorite in this field as he seeks a fourth win in seven starts today.
Race 7: Jack’s Train is overdue for a win. The consistent money finisher was caught at the wire last start and should get a lot of play as well as Easy N Free who is down in grade.
Race 8: Craigie Macey is inside again for a third consecutive start and should be among the top three finishers.
Race 10: WW Avoid The Law is looking for a fifth win in seven starts. The newest Ward kennel sensation makes his top grade debut. And, despite he will face veterans, the young gun is expected to blas many of his rivals. De’s Spun is still looking for a first win of the meet, but her consistent money finishes keep her in the top grade.
Race 13: We watched this female score the win Wednesday and have been following the youngester since she aced every required schooler along with her maiden debut. She is the hottest pup in the Raines kennel. Kiowa AK Ethan won his maiden race this week as well from the Patriot kennel. This race will be a battle of the sexes.

Saturday night
Race 2: Pam Ford could drive to win this distance race.
Race 3: Daddy’s Dollars is the final pup from the litter that D’Arcy is debuting this weekend.
Race 4: The stakes winning Kiowa Knockout should be able to score the win in this field, but will need to watch out for M’s Morgan-a solid top grade finisher in the field.
Race 6: San Tan Pronto and Jiminy Pickle are the likely quiniela in this race.
Race 8: Hi Noon Hypnotic is overdue for a win in the longer distance.
Race 10: Kiowa Class King is seeking the hat trick against Flying Ochoa who will get the most of the play. Upcomin Design, in the eight, will also be a favorite.
Race 15: Silver Dealer just missed winning last start and should score the win and wrap up the weekend races.

Tri Super over $9,000 for Thursday night racing
Flying Coal City sets season’s best 660-yard
Bonafide Top Dog upsets in Twin Trifecta race
Super Nickey seeks four straight in race six Thursday night

Wednesday night saw lots of competitive races that resulted in many photo finishes. Flying Coal City recorded a new season’s best time over the 660-yard and the Tri Super jackpot grew to $9,514 for Thursday night’s card. The Twin Trifecta that is forced out every Wednesday night saw Lester Raines’ Bonafide Top Dog give an outstanding performance as he passed his rivals on the outside and surged to victory paying $32.20 to win. His victory was a big one over Lamorge Streaker-the .70 favorite. Top Dog led the 4-3-1 combination for the first half payout. Raines kennel also scored a victory in the back half of the wager when USS San Angelo closed for a five-length win over the bet favorite Backwood Cruiser that finishes second. The 8-6-4-7 combination in the back half paid everyone with a first half ticket. The (all-all-all) paid each person $659.40.

McAllister kennel is housing quite an impressive athlete in Flying Coal City. Wednesday night the male left the top grade 660-yard athletes in a six and a half-length wake to record a new season’s best time of 37.26. The impressive male also holds the best 550-yard time of 30.44. And, he accomplished all that in just 12 career starts. Flying Coal City (Kiowa Sweet Trey x Flying Crestline) is owned by Vince Berland of KS and could be an entry in the Fall Sprint that starts September 19. The pup is also eligible for the Fall Juvenile in November and is a sure candidate for the 660-yard Challenge in December.

Along with collecting first place finishes in the Tri Super races the Lester Raines kennel collected a third win with Picou. The youngster won his maiden debut after acing all of his schooling races. He is a pup to put on the watch list.

Thursday notes:
Race 6: Super Nickey has been racing pretty super and is going for four in a row tonight. Despite his streak he has not been the betting favorite in any of them. Although he deserves the recognition he will be tested. His biggest rival will be his own kennelmate KB’s Power Play that has been a fan favorite since being shipped from Wheeling. Power Play has won four of his six trips in St. Pete.
Race 8: CTW Bellagio is seeking the hat trick. Although he is running well, several top grade drops are more than likely to keep him from victory like Craigie Timetogo and Craigie Twotime.
Race 9: My First Rodeo has 10 money finishes in 15 starts and is looking for three in a row tonight. The youngster faces M’s Dream Mary another nice looking pup with 5 of 6 trifecta finishes in her six official starts. Both face veterans including Jack’s Viper-the most experienced.
Race 10: Raines could collect another win for the week with USS Obedience who put forth a winning effort from the same outside eight post she drew tonight. Kiowa RF Preston was the betting favorite last time out from the inside rail and will compete from the two tonight.

We have a great doubleheader of greyhound racing today featuring several nice young pups and fan favorites. Highlighting the Wednesday races is Derby Lane’s darling Lamorge Streaker who boasts 14 quiniela finishes in 15 starts for the meet. Of Streaker's 15 starts this meet 13 of her races are grade A wins. The top sprinter is a leading favorite for the $50,000 Fall Sprint that begins Saturday night September 19. Wednesday night Streaker is posted perfect in the one box in the first half of the Twin Trifecta. The jackpot is always forced out Wednesday nights. Although she is posted well so is TK Rapala in the eight. The two may be in their favorite spots, but this field is not an easy one. TNJ Little Linda is seeking a fourth top grade win in her past six starts and Little E Nation won two of his last four starts in the top grade. Of Jiminy Pickle’s 13 starts this meet 12 have been superfecta finishes. Bonafide Top Dog is another consistent money finisher in the top grade. His slow breaking style might hamper his chances in this field.

Wednesday notes
Matinee
Race 2: Barney Miller should be able to repeat his maiden win and score two in a row in the back half of the Daily Double.
Race 3: Kiowa AK Charlie and his kennelmate Kiowa Trent Tira are seeking the maiden win. Charlie’s litterbrother Kiowa AK Ethan held to win his maiden last night.
Race 4: D’Arcy kennel has a nice pup in Forever Together that recently reeled off three in a row and is five of seven in the trifecta. She is expected to be a favorite in the race that could see Kentucky Ed go box to wire. Ed drew the outside eight box that saw him dominate the field in his August 1 start.
Race 5: Magic Porkchop is 10 of 11 in the money with two wins. His late breaking style could be the culprit for so many of his second place finishes.
Race 6: Kiowa AK Richpie seeks a repeat win in the top grade. Richpie halted Lamorge Streaker’s winning spree at the wire Saturday night. His biggest threat could be Silver Rumor who gave a winning effort last.
Race 10: EL Moonstruck drew the two box for a fourth consecutive start today. She went box to wire from here her last start and should be able to repeat. WW’s Tin Man, who hasn’t seen an outside box in a while, could be Moon’s biggest challenge.
Race 12: Fine Cheyenne has consistently lit the board of late and should not be left out of any combinations today.
Race 15: Wheeling import Kelsos Rigor was off for over a month before schooling in FL. He could wrap up the matinee with a win for the Raines kennel.

Wednesday night
Race 2: Pam Ford and RJ’s Playgirl could be the quineila. Playgirl shot to the lead, but was caught near the wire in her last start while Ford ran a steady second. Knock Out’s late speed almost scored the win in his last race where he just missed by a nose.
Race 3: Raines kennel won three races Tuesday night and could add another with their undefeated pup Picou that makes his maiden debut tonight. Picou aced his required schoolers impressively and is a stickout in the field.
Race 4: Kelsos Timeframe is seeking the hat trick. It won’t be an easy feat for the male with Flying Intern and Red I Micro in the field.
Race 5: The first half of the Tri Super field could see Jack’s Train derail his rivals and head the field across the wire.
Race 6: Joe The Plumber has moved to the top grade winning three of his last four races from C to A. Although the male is on a spree, he will face opposition from Lamorge Aces Up and Odd Inspector. Flying Ingraham could repeat his win from the same five post he drew last week.
Race 7: Chief Inspector makes his fourth trip around the oval. The pup has been the betting favorite in all three of his official strips. Eye See You Now recently arrived from Southland and ran second from the eight box last start. He drew the eight again tonight.
Race 8: This is a nice 660-yard field. Flying Coal City, who holds the season’s best time of 30.44 over the sprint, is showing he is every bit as competitive over the longer run. The male has already beaten the best. He is accumulating the required distance starts for the stakes later this season and could be the kennel’s entry for the upcoming sprint. Coal City drew against Its Enchanted who hopes to score three in a row in his first top grade race. He will be a longshot against the veterans TMC’s Remedy, Backwood Nan and Bills Are Due.
Race 11: Streaker vs. Rapala.
Race 12: Move Over Tang has been a fan favorite since his arrival. The Anthony Downs stakes champ is going for two in a row. Jack’s Rocket is the program favorite from the rail post, but Don Jensen could upset and post two in a row.
Race 14: CS Easy a recent Southland import is making her 660-yard debut tonight as well as Jawa Roys Sea and WW The Endisnigh. Kiowa Chilton could steal the win if he breaks out like he did in his last start.
Race 15: Wrapping up the doubleheader could be the late breaking Schnitt who was last to first on Saturday. Kiowa Shagginboy dropped from B and is very overdue for a win.

Last night’s racing saw LaRosa kennel kick off the night with a longshot win with KB’s Yoeman that paid $36.00 to win, $14.20 and $6.80. The kennel also saw Kaias Crybaby win race eleven and pay $20.00 for the upset over WW Flamboyant. LaRosa had three winners Monday night. Magic City- Mighty Fine kennel also saw high paying wins with their entries M’s Dream Lady paying $22.40 in her maiden victory and RS Holligan’s victory in race thirteen paid $34.80, $19.20 and $7.20.

Tuesday notes:
Race 1: The first race tonight will be over the 660-yard distance. Backwood Gladys gave a winning effort last. Julia WW Gustey is due for another win.
Race 3: Jack’s Roadster has been a consistent finisher in outside posts and drew another one for tonight. He will break from post seven and should be able to get in position for a win. Craigie Macey could repeat if she gets loose.
Race 4: It could be a Kay Smith owned quiniela with her littermates Kiowa AK Ethan and Kiowa AK Fletch both seeking the maiden win for Patriot kennel.
Race 5: Magic City posted two upsets last night and could head the first half of the Twin Tri with Bohemian Edmond a shipper from WV.
Race 6: This top grade field favors Upcomin Design in post two. The male who is 10 of 13 money finishes this meet, is overdue for a win. LL’s Dormarbuddy can’t be left out of the trifecta with his consistent quineila posts. San Tan Pronto is posted well in the one box.
Race 8: WW Shys Drawing is seeking the hat trick over the longer run. His biggest threat could be Rainingonsunday. Makes Me Smile is also showing well over the longer course. Of her two starts she has posted a second and a win collected last week. Although left out of the program picks CTW Inside Man should be able to light the board.
Race 9: This is a pretty evenly matched race with lots of wagering opportunities. WW Avoid The Law has been the betting favorite in all five of his career starts. He could be outmatched against the veterans in this grade B field. Rosey Rookey and Flying Mr. Sir are expected to get most of the play.
Race 10: Jack’s Gladiator is looking for the hat trick in the grade A feature. He faces the fickle Backwood Cash who might decide to scorch the track. Vegas Rooster could pull off an upset if he gets inside.

Tri Super over $6,400 for Monday night races, played in races 5 & 7
Twin Trifecta over $3,400 for Monday night races, played in races 11 & 13wedding
Streak halted Saturday
Dewey Millions highlights race 10 Monday
Monday notes
JimV wins Derby Lane Saturday night Fantasy Greyhound League

Lamorge Streaker’s winning spree was halted Saturday night. She was the betting favorite for a fifth consecutive start. The red beauty showed her signature style as she burst out on top. The 3-5 favorite had the finish line in her sights and was just about to collect a fourth in a row and her 12th win in 15 starts when Patriot’s Kiowa AK Richpie snatched it away at the wire by a neck. Richpie went off at 8-1 and returned $19.60 to win. The male’s record was underestimated. Since July Richpie has turned in 11 money finishes in 13 starts. Three of his four top grade starts have been trifecta finishes. Streaker is nearing a milestone of 70 career wins. She currently has 67.

Dewey Millions and Hallo Gold Acre will match strides in race 10 Monday night. The stakes winning Dewey won the Rotary Governor’s Feature last February. Gold Acre is last year’s All America Captain. Dewey is seeking the hat trick and his fifth win in seven starts over the 550-yard oval. Gold Acre’s slow breaking style has been his biggest hurdle. His late speed style has not proven effective against the speedsters of late. Also in the field is Flying Regent that is also looking for three in a row. Millys Uncle could surprise with her favorable inside two post. Gretchen Oswalt is also a fleet-footed female that could steal the show if she gets loose. Two starts ago she jumped to the front from the same six box she drew

Monday notes:
Race 1: Dust Maker is one to keep an eye on. The Southland import was 9 of 17 there and has lit the superfecta board 2 out of his three starts. M’s Dream Mary is seeking a threepeat. The recent maiden graduate is four of five in the money.
Race 2: It could be a Magic City Daily Double if Dream Mary scores race one and Visions N Dreams takes it from the eight box in race two. Dreams is sitting well and appears to only be threatened by Kiowa Shay P, a double drop who has run poorly in her last four starts.
Race 4: Greta’s Winstar could keep Capabal kennel’s streak going. The kennel scored six wins over the weekend and could keep the momentum going.
Race 6: Kelsos Scotsclan is overdue for a win. The brother of last year’s Fall Juvenile champion Kelsos Hathaway is the class of the field, but could fall prey to Backwood Terri, a solid top grade contender.
Race 8: Monica Crawley could be the play of the night. She won the last time she wore the red blanket.
Race 10: Dewey Millions will no doubt be the favorite in tonight’s Monday night smack-down. The male is 11 of 13 money finishes this meet and will face-off with Flying Regent who is also seeking the hat trick in the race. Both expect a late bid by Hallo Gold Acre.
Race 13: Ward kennel who is nipping at the heels of the top Charter kennel could see one of their newest pups score a second win in his third official trip. Veteran Jack’s Boxster who was nosed out last and is a double grade drop will threaten WW Plenty Rich.
Race 15: Nova kennel that won five races over the weekend could have another nice pup from owner Charles Haliburton III, that owns Gold Trophy champion Hi Noon Rembrant and NOS XXII winner Hi Noon Hypnotic. One of his newest arrivals, Hi Noon Showoff, is seeking an eighth consecutive superfecta finish to wrap up the Monday night card.

Another special thank you to Frank Hansel and all the folks from Kcimagemakers who put together the Saturday night picks from Derby Lane. You can play too by visiting http://www.kcimagemakers.com/greyhound.html and entering your winners. The contest is great fun and gives greyhound race enthusiasts a chance to hone their skills. You can watch all night as you compare your picks or you can wait until Frank sends you the Sunday email to hear how all the contenders did.

In his weekly summary Frank congratulated JimV who made his first night in the Fantasy Greyhound Racing League a memorable one. JimV used a third-place finish from Backwood Cruiser in the 15th and final race to move up from third place and win this week's competition with 126 points. Broadway, who also had Backwood Cruiser, moved up from fourth place to claim the second-place prize. TheMan, who led most of the night, got only 6 points in the 14th race and missed the board in the 15th and had to settle for third. Grimhawke and Frank H, who was second heading into the finale, rounded out the top five by tying for fourth place with 120 points.

As for me, I finished in the middle of the pack with 100 points. Lots of fun and thanks again Frank and the crew! See you in this week’s competition.

She is 13 of 14 in the quiniela this meet. Like fine wine the female gets better with age. She is beating pups half her age in races. Her quick start is unmatched by any athlete here and arguably in the nation. Owned by George Reich of Tarpon Springs, FL and Lamar Porter of Dover, FL Streaker is the prize of the Alderson kennel. The female’s staggering career stats are 166 starts, 67 wins, 31 second place finishes, 16 thirds and 11 fourths. Lamorge Streaker will compete in race 12 Saturday night. Thrown in the mix will be Naples distance stakes champion Kiowa Knockout who has been moved to the shorter course. Weekend Greyhound notes:
Friday night
Race 3: Silver Monday turned in a winning effort last outing. Macnamara’s quick start could give him an overdue win.
Race 6: The top grade race features Odd Inspector who left the field in a nine-length wake last start from the outside eight. He will wear the seven blanket tonight and should be a favorite. WW’s Tin Man and San Tan Pronto could give Inspector a run for the money. Red Royal Horror is also hard to discount from a favored rail post.
Race 8: Rainingonsunday likes an inside box and drew the rail. She should be able to take the field. Kodak Moment and Kiowa Linette are her biggest threats.
Race 10: TNJ Little Linda is seeking the hat trick in this top grade race. She is the program favorite. Jiminy Pickle and Cold Fusion could be stretch threats for the female.
Race 12: The final top grade race of the night could see WW’s Fox Hunter repeat his last performance with a box to wire run. Lamorge Red Fish also did the same feat in the top grade as well as M’s Tony who moved up from “B” in the same fashion. El Moonstruck gave a winning effort last from the inside and drew the blue two for a third consecutive start.
Race 15: Flying Ingraham is well overdue for a win and could score the final win of the night. Backwood Ethel has been a consistent money finisher this meet and should not be discounted.

Saturday matinee
Race 1: Sailors Return is back and seeks three in a row. The recent maiden graduate is five for five in the trifecta and one of D’Arcy kennel’s prominent pups.
Race 4: Flying Intern is on a roll posting money finishes in her past nine starts. Although she is in with several grade drops her consistency can’t be overlooked.
Race 6: Magic Smoke drew the rail post that saw him go box to wire on Aug. 8th. Although it is a good post for the pup, Silver Rumor will be looking to jump to the front and will more than likely be the betting favorite.
Race 9: Big Bear an import from Southland is looking for two in a row and should be able to get it. Magic Porkchop will be a late threat from the eight box.
Race 10: Super Nickey is seeking the hat trick and will face solid grade A runners. Kiowa RF Preston who gave a winning effort last start and was a head away from victory.

Saturday night
Race 1: Bulls Win should bring in the first half of the Daily Double from the inside one box.
Race 2: Kiowa Chilton tried hard last and was close even though he shows a fifth place finish. He could be the back half of the Daily Double ticket.
Race 3: Barney Miller will seek a maiden win in his third official trip around the oval.
Race 6: Kelsos Hathaway, Little E Nation and Flying Ochoa are the likely trifecta in this field.
Race 8: Expect another impressive smack down between Backwood Nan and TMC’s Remedy. Flying Coal City is looking for a fourth win in six races and could beat them both.
Race 9: Forever Together is seeking four in a row in her seventh official race. She too, is another nice pup in the D’Arcy kennel.
Race 10: KB’s Power Play boasts four wins in his five races since arriving from Wheeling. Silver Scola is going for the hat trick.
