RED DIRT ROAD ADDS BEST TIME TO SEASON'S RECORDS
La Rosa Enterprises' star sprinter Red Dirt Road (Ben Awhile x Izz Our Rags)
added a season's best time to his record-setting season on Friday. The male
who bumped Flying Macbeth from the top spot in the standings also nudged him
from the season's best time. Last December McAllister's Flying Macbeth
recorded a 30.07 over the 550-yard course. The time was the fastest clocked
in six months and it appeared Macbeth would keep the status. While Macbeth
was preparing for the St. Petersburg Derby his biggest nemesis Red Dirt
Road, nosed out the 30.07 with the new 30.06 just three days before the end
of the meet.
Red broke from post four in a dominating run leaving the field in a nine
length wake. Red's victory was a double record. His time was the fastest and
the win, his forty-third, was also the new record during the first
year-round meet. Extruding Dream marked the wins at 37 during the 2006 meet.
Last month Red topped the wins and has been extending the record since. His
season stats are among the best in the nation. He has a 55% win record and
lit the board 70 of his 77 starts since last July when the year-round meet
began. Red's stas stopped at 77-43-17-7-3. He will accumulate new season
stats beginning July 1.
Saturday night June 28 the red fawn male was paraded on track by trainer Kim
McAuliffe along with owner Margaret Roban Bridges and Windy Bridges. Red was
donning a special blanket that reflected his new win record. Margaret
accepted Red's certificate listing all his credentials. "I was glad to see
the girls make the drive from Fort White," said kennel owner Tom La Rosa.
"It was a nice touch." Red Dirt Road's fans were waiting for him after the
race. Some wore T-shirts that celebrated Red's achievements. "Red will stay
here in St. Pete and will be our entry in the Fall Sprint in September,"
said La Rosa.
GOLDEN DERBY FOR D'ARCY'S
D'Arcy kennel owner and trainer Mick D'Arcy was all smiles in the winner's
circle and was joined by his son Michael and his daughter Catherine who owns
Greys Touch Gold-winner of the Derby. "Orla is her kennel name that means
gold in Irish," said Catherine during a winner's circle interview. "We are
so proud of her."
Mick D'Arcy who was the former trainer of Greymeadow kennel won the 2003
Derby with Greys Marquis. This year's Derby was a first for D'Arcy as a
kennel owner. "She has been waiting for her chance and tonight she took it,"
said D'Arcy. Greys Touch Gold (Fortified Power x Greys Kadeekenya) was a
finalist in last year's St. Pete Derby too.
GREYHOUND OWNER WINS THIRD FLORIDA STAKES
Kansas greyhound owner Jack Sherck won his third FL stakes race during the
past four months when WW Waffle Crisp won the Derby Consolation Saturday
night. Sherck owned the World Classic champion Starz Jenko who went on to
win the Palm Beach Classic on Memorial Day. At Derby Lane Saturday night's
Consolation was captured by WW Waffle Crisp (Flying Penske x Alpha Bits) who
passed her kennelmate WW's Uh Huh and pulled away in a six length victory.

Magic City seeking historic Derby win Saturday night
Last night the semifinal rounds produced one of the best distance finals in
the nation for the 82nd running of the St. Petersburg Derby. The awesome
eight will line up Saturday night in race ten for the stakes title. There
have been several historic marks this season and fans could see another
piece of greyhound history on Saturday if Magic City's Fly Bye Popstar
scores the Derby win.
No kennel has ever won the stakes race three years in a row. And only a
handful of kennels has accomplished a consecutive Derby streak. Magic City's
two-year reign was accomplished with brothers Extruding Dream (2006) and
Phenomenal Dream (2007). Magic City joined the ranks last year that
included Mendheim kennel who won the 2000 & 2001 Derby with Boot Scootin
Gal. R. E. Thomas kennel scored back to back Derby titles with Noti Angnes
(1980) and T Hee (1979). G. A. Alderson kennel's Holy Brother was a back to
back Derby winner in 1953 and 1954. The first kennel to win consecutive
titles was Shaw kennel with Bad Sally that won the 1937 and 1938 St.
Petersburg Derby.
Although the semifinal rounds were female dominated, four of the five males
finals advanced to the Derby. McAllister kennel has stacked the Derby deck
in his favor as all three of the kennel entries advanced to the Derby.
Flying Midnite who was the kennel's entry in last year's Consolation
accelerated in the homestretch to guarantee her Derby slot winning race six.
WW Shys Drawing finished second followed by Flying Macbeth who set the pace
and finished third. Castle Princess, a round one qualifying winner, closed
just in time to win the photo for fourth. Ucme Fastromance, WW's Uh Huh,
Oshkosh Timer and Greys Star Glory filled the first four slots in the
Consolation field.
Race ten saw an explosive performance by Fly Bye Popstar who was not going
to allow anyone to get in his way of a guaranteed Derby post. Popstar shot
to the front from post eight in a speedy 37.24. Distance Classic winner
Flyin Bridgeport ran second followed by Greys Touch Gold and Sheriff Dawson
who filled the final four Derby posts. WW Waffle Crisp, Avondale, Backwood
Juanita and Kiowa Lets Go will compete in the Consolation.
Post positions for the St. Pete Derby and the Consolation Derby will be held
in the Racing office tonight (June 26). The two stakes races will highlight
the Fan Appreciation weekend giveaways to help kick off the summer season
that begins July 1. Best of luck to everyone in both races.

St Pete Derby semifinals tonight
Five males and eleven females will compete in tonight’s semifinals for a post in the 82nd annual St. Petersburg Derby to be held this Saturday night. Flyin Bridgeport is the leading favorite and hopes to score a second major distance stakes title that would boost him to the top of the list for another Flashy Sir nomination. Bridgeport won Saturday’s qualifiers and needs to run fourth or better tonight for a Derby slot.
Bridgeport is one of three McAllister kennel entries that advanced from the first round. His kennelmates Flying Midnite and Flying Macbeth will compete in race six against D’Arcy kennel’s Castle Princess who also scored a first round win. Her kennelmates Greys Touch Gold and Avondale will compete against Bridgeport in race ten.
All three Wayne Ward’s entries advanced from round one. WW Shys Drawing and WW’s Uh Huh face-off with Castle Princess in race six. WW Waffle Crisp is featured in race ten.
Fly Bye Popstar who is featured in race ten is the Magic City Derby hopeful. Trainer Doug Flint won the stakes during the past two years with brothers Extruding Dream and Phenomenal Dream. A Derby slot and victory with Popstar would see an Impossible Dream sired champion for three consecutive years.
And, speaking of sires, Kiowa Lets Go from the Filipelli & O’Donnell kennel could follow in her father’s Derby steps if she can post a fourth or better. She is the daughter of the 2002 Derby winner Kiowa Sweet Joe. She is in tough competition and needs a race benefit in the tenth tonight.
Other semifinalists are Oshkosh Timer (race six) and Backwood Juanita (race ten) from Thorne/Lelas kennel. Ucme Fastromance (race six) and Sheriff Dawson (race ten) are both Charter hopefuls. Greys Star Glory will break from post one for the Lester Raines kennel.
All sixteen of tonight’s entries will either compete in the Saturday’s Derby or the Consolation. The first four finishers in races six and ten will fill the Derby slots. The remaining eight will be the Consolation entries for Saturday night’s Fan Appreciation night.

Charles Marriott & Talentedmrripley land spots in Hall of Fame
What a weekend! First the St. Petersburg Times headline on Saturday was; St.
Petersburg man lands in Greyhound Hall of Fame by Don Jensen. The story
reported that Charles Marriott, a long time kennel operator here at Derby
Lane and Talentedmrripley-a record-breaking "Derby Dog" will be inducted
into the National Greyhound Hall of Fame in Abilene, KS in October. Click
HERE to read the full story.Talentedmrripley was a huge draw and arguably more popular than the beloved
Keefer who was a champion in the 80's. Talentedmrripley gained fans
worldwide that helped generate a record handle at Derby Lane of $1,317,111
on June 29, 2002. The record stands to date. Ripley is retired and takes up
residence as an official greeter at the Greyhound Hall of Fame. His lavish
surroundings include video highlights of his championship career.
Talentedmrripley was born in October of 1999 and along with his induction,
he will celebrate his 9th birthday.
Red Dirt Road seeks win 42 Monday night
The record-setting Red Dirt Road will wrap up the season as top dog for
sure. Red surpassed the 37 record mark last month and seeks his 42nd win
Monday night in race six. Red's biggest nemesis Flying Macbeth is three
wins behind Red and will only have two more starts before the end of the
meet. Macbeth who is currently competing in the St. Pete Derby series, was
breathing down Red's back. Macbeth finished third Saturday taking the
pressure off Red for the solo win title. "We are really proud of him (Red
Dirt Road)," said Tom La Rosa who owns the La Rosa Enterprises kennel. "He
deserves the recognition and the Roban's did a great job with him."
Derby Lane will recognize Red Dirt Road on Saturday night June 28 as part of
the Fan Appreciation/St. Pete Derby night festivities.
Field set for Wednesday Derby semifinals
The field was sliced in half Saturday night after thirty-two hopefuls
competed in four heats in the 82nd annual St. Petersburg Derby series. The
first four finishers in races 4, 6, 8 and ten advanced to Wednesday's races.
Magic City is the Derby defending kennel that has won the stakes during the
past two years. In 2006 Extruding Dream crossed first and last year his
brother Phenomenal Dream won the race. Saturday night the kennel hopeful
Fly Bye Popstar kicked off the qualifiers with a win in race four. Popstar
beat the betting favorite. WW Shys Drawing and Sheriff Dawson ran second and
third and also advanced to semifinals. Greys Touch Gold closed just in time
for a fourth place finish.
Race six saw D'Arcy kennel's Castle Princess go box to wire from post three

Magic City gears up for Derby threepeat
The 82nd running of the St. Petersburg Derby will begin Saturday night June
21 where Magic City kennel and trainer Doug Flint hope to win the stakes for
a third consecutive year. In 2006, Extruding Dream captured the title along
with Flashy Sir and All-American awards. Last year, Extruding's brother
Phenomenal Dream won the stakes and Extruding was the runner-up in the
Consolation. This year, Magic City hopefuls are Fly Bye Popstar and Gotta
Havedreams.
Saturday night thirty-two distance greyhounds will compete in single
elimination rounds to produce this year's finalists for the June 28 stakes.

finishing fourth or better in round one advance to semifinals next Wednesday
June 25.
Fly Bye Popstar kicks off the opening rounds in race four Saturday night.

second Flashy Sir nomination. Designer Angel and WW Waffle Crisp, two
impressive youngsters who were Distance Classic finalists this year, are
expected to challenge the stakes veteran again. Seaquest is also in race
eight and was a Derby finalist last year.
Gotta Havedreams, who was taken off after semifinals of this year's Distance
Classic in April, has had two official distance starts since his return. He
will conclude the first round in race ten. He will face-off with Flying
Macbeth who proved he could go the distance last week. Macbeth was the
undefeated finalist in the 660-yard Challenge stakes last December. In
March, the dual distance athlete pulled up over the longer course. Last week
he competed in his first distance race since March and won. He appears to be

June 17, 2008 - Patrick's Dream Comes True!

Monday night Patrick Macri's dream came true thanks to the Sunshine
Foundation of Canada and Derby Lane. Patrick watches the Derby Lane races
via TV in Canada and wanted to see the greyhounds in person. It was an honor
to accommodate this young man and his wonderful family.
Patrick's evening began with a kennel tour as he gave good luck pats to the
racers and learned about how the greyhounds are cared for. Patrick and his
family watched weigh-in and then had dinner and watched several races.
Kennel personnel visited him at his table and he even received a lucky
ticket from a Derby Lane employee.
Nova kennel's Deco Fiorina won the fourth race that was dedicated to
Patrick. It was a wonderful evening for Patrick who is a remarkable young
man. He loves the races and the animals and Derby Lane was very fortunate to
have this young man visit. We were very proud to help make his dream come
true.

Red Dirt Road extends win record
Friday night Red Dirt Road extended the new season win mark to 41 wins in
another sensational come from behind victory. He also recorded three in a
row. The La Rosa Enterprises champion broke the mark of 37 last month and
has two weeks to add to his new record before the new meet starts on July 1.

Happy Father's Day from Derby Lane
This Sunday is Father's Day and speaking of father's, many of our past
champion males have produced outstanding offspring. The sire in the
spotlight at the moment is Ben Awhile whose son Red Dirt Road captured last
week's T. L. Weaver stakes, set a new win record last month and is competing
tonight!
Red Dirt Road kicks off Father's Day weekend races
La Rosa Enterprises' star sprinter Red Dirt Road hopes to improve the new
win record and extend it to 41 Friday night in race 10. Last week Red Dirt
Road won the $8,000 T. L. Weaver Memorial Challenge and recorded his 40th win of the meet. He passed the previous record mark of 37 set in 2006 and
has two more weeks to extend it before the new meet begins on July 1.
Owned by Margaret Roban Bridges and Dorothy Roban, the sturdy male whelped
from Izz Our Rags has exceeded all expectations of him. Red's father Ben
Awhile was a stakes winning sprinter and among the nations top eight in
2002. Ben earned a slot on the All America Team. Last year Red's staggering
stats lacked a stakes win. This year the champion male boasts a record of
73-40-17-6-3 for the meet that includes a new win record. Kim McAuliffe who
trains Red Dirt Road also handled Ben Awhile.
There is no doubt Red has made his papa proud. Red Dirt Road will seek win
41 in race ten Friday night against Bobbye's Donjuan who finished an
impressive third in last week's Weaver final. Red is also seeking the hat
trick Friday night and will be threatened by Jack's Rapidfire also a
finalist in last week's stakes, and Law's Crusader who won his last start.
While Red Dirt Road is seeking to improve his record, Red's litter-brother
Rainingonsunday seeks a repeat win in race four Saturday night. Sunday
moved back to the top grade over the 660-yard course this past Tuesday.
Kiowa Kay Kirk who won his last top grade start is expected to give
Rainingonsunday a challenge. Flying Midnite, Designer Angel and BBR Penske
Pal are also top grade distance runners.
Flyin Bridgeport prepares for Distance Classic

upcoming St. Pete Derby. The 2007 Flashy Sir winner and All American became
one of three greyhounds to score a back-to-back victory in the $100,000
Distance Classic earlier this year. Bridgeport has won four of his last six
starts and is hoping for a victory in the stakes that would put him in the
running for another Flashy Sir title. WW Waffle Crisp who is expected to
challenge Bridgeport has won half of her last six starts. Fly Bye
Popstar-the runner-up in last week's T. L. Weaver stakes is expected to be
an entry in the upcoming Derby. Popstar races with Magic City kennel that

Tonight and every Wednesday night the Twin Trifecta Jackpot is forced out.
The jackpot begins over $4,000 in the matinee races. The Twin Trifecta is
played in races 11 and 13.
Wednesday notes:
Matinee:
Race 6: Flying Xylitol is seeking three in a row over the sprint course. The
recent Gold Trophy semifinalist is the program favorite. He could meet
strong opposition from TI Gallop and Craigie May who gave a winning effort
last time out.
Race 8: Jack's Speedster is overdue. The box breaker has led to the stretch
in his past three races. Today he should be able to score an overdue win.
Race 10: The top McAllister kennel could run one-two with Flying Ardmore who
is seeking a repeat win against his kennelmate Flying Snap Off.
Wednesday night:
Race 1: Artic Mist has been the bet favorite in three of his last six starts
and should score the first half of the Daily Double from post one.
Race 2: Winter Blaze could bring in the back half of the double from post
six. The double drop entry was the bet favorite last outing from the eight.
Tonight she races from post six.
Race 6: Kiowa SUV is seeking the hat trick in race six. Her odds are
favorable but she will need to watch Ebor Hero who drew the rail pole.
Race 8: WW Waffle Crisp is seeking her fourth win in five starts over the
longer course. She is preparing for the upcoming St Petersburg Derby.
Race 9: PR's Jimmy John appears to be a prominent pup. He has finished in
the quiniela three of four times and will face off with the seasoned Lamorge
Sweetums with over 80 official starts.
Race 11: The first half of the Twin Trifecta features Kaias Sequoyah going
for three in a row against T L Weaver runner-up Fly Bye Popstar who drew the
same seven post that he had in the stakes. Kiowa AK Kieffer was also a
Weaver finalist and ran fifth despite first turn trouble.
Race 13: The back half of the Twin Trifecta wager could see Jack's Streak go
box to wire from the same inside two post that he had drawn in his past four
consecutive starts. Philippian, a top grade drop should also finish as part
of the trifecta. WW Hey Spanky and Lazy K Red Sea are also strong rivals in
the field.

McAllister setting unprecedented record

With just three weeks left in the first year-round meet the McAllister
kennel is still going strong. FlyingMacbeth marked the kennel's 600th win
recently and heading into tonight's races McAllister is nearing the 620
mark. Last year McAllister dropped his second Mega kennel booking and
concentrated on taking the top spot. He said with the year-round schedule
his goal was to hit the 600 mark.
McAllister saw his dream surpass his expectations. The kennel continues to
bring out the talents of greyhounds fueled by Vince Berland and Flying
Eagles. Earlier this year McAllister had to see his Rural Rube winner
Flying Stanley leave as well as Kansas stakes champion Flying Fabian, Flying
Chain and a host of others. Although it appeared that the top stars left,
McAllister still remains on top and has replaced them with more top grade
athletes.
His other star Flyin Bridgeport who was named the 2007 Flashy Sir winner,
made history this year at Derby Lane when he became the third greyhound in
the history of the Distance Classic to score back-to-back victories in the
49th annual event. McAllister himself became part of the industry history
by winning stakes races with both of the national award winners.
Flying Stanley is in Kansas at the Berland farm. Bridgeport is still at
Derby Lane and is preparing to compete in the St. Petersburg Derby.
Bridgeport was a finalist in last year's race and hopes to earn a post in
this year's final for a second shot at the title and a second distance
stakes this year.
Tonight, McAllister debuts another promising pup. Flying Brando who won all
three official schoolers makes his debut in race three from post one. Flying
Regent-a McAllister favorite in last month's Gold Trophy race competes in
race six tonight along with his kennelmate Flying Eagle in the TA sprint.
Flyin Home Depot was the runner-up in the Gold Trophy stakes and faces off
with the winner Craigie Mr Venus who is also seeking five straight in race
ten tonight.
McAllister hopes to close out the Tuesday night races with a victory in race
14. Flying Elektra who is down two grades hopes to cinch the 660-yard race
against the program favorite Odd Rover.
June 8, 2008 Monday Night Live Action Begins Today

Don’t forget our new summer schedule that eliminates the Monday matinee racing. Monday night racing continues all summer with nightly performances Monday through Saturday nights. Post time 7:30 PM. Matinees during the summer will be held Wednesday and Saturday’s with a 12:30 PM post time. The 2007-2008 greyhound season wraps up June 30 and the new live action schedule for 2008-2009 kicks off on July 1.
The plaza gates open every day at 11:30 AM all year long offering simulcast wagering on horses, Jai-alai and other FL greyhounds. The Gallery Lounge is also open at 11:30 AM with daily food specials, a casual menu and drink favorites. Poker Play is 1:00 PM – 1:00 AM Sunday
through Thursday and 2:00 PM – 2:00 AM Friday and Saturday nights.
Red Dirt Road paves path to stakes victory
Over 7,000 fans came out to Derby Lane during the double stakes day that offered wagering on the Belmont and the 12th annual T. L. Weaver Memorial stakes. Fans were frantically lining up for their Big Brown T-shirts. Although the Triple Crown hopeful was unable to pull off the historic win, he will always be a true champion.
Saturday night June 7, LaRosa Enterprise’s Red Dirt Road (Ben Awhile x Izz Our Rags) paved a path to victory in the 12th annual Weaver stakes. The race named after Derby Lane’s founding President Thomas Lee Weaver, saw the LaRosa star get through the troubled first turn and coast to victory in a five length victory. Red Dirt Road is the current win leader and extended the new season record to 40. "I liked his post and although he has had bad luck in stakes finals, I felt he could win tonight," said trainer Kim McAuliffe. Margaret Roban Bridges and Dorothy Roban who were unable to attend the St. Petersburg race own Red Dirt Road.
Gamblers made Red’s biggest nemesis Flying Macbeth the betting favorite in the field. Macbeth is the season’s fastest and was the "top dog" until he was sidelined for a brief stint. That time was just enough for Red to gain the top spot and record a new win record.
The stakes final was trouble from the onset. When the box opened Red was out on top but last year’s runner-up Sol Deli rushed past him and was a half-length in front briefly before a major jam in the first turn forced her out of the race.
The first turn saw a seven dog jam that was full of bumps and shuffling. Red who was tight on the rail endured the pressure and pulled away from the field. Fly Bye Popstar gave a winning effort for the defending Magic City kennel that won last year’s race with Extruding Dream. Bobbye’s Donjuan broke sharp to the turn but was bumped further outside. He recovered for a third place finish.
Although he finished fourth, Flying Macbeth-the bet favorite, put forth an extraordinary effort that saw him shutoff several times but the sturdy male continued to overcome and light the board. Fifth through eighth was Kiowa AK Kieffer who hurdled Sol Deli in the first turn to avoid collision. Jack’s Rapidfire was also part of the early jam as was Van’s Escalade and Sol Deli.
Red clocked a 30.72 for the win and paid $5.60, 3.40 and 2.80. Fly Bye Popstar paid $14.60, 4.80 and Bobbye’s Donjuan returned $4.80 to show. Red Dirt Road’s victory put him a better position to cinch the top dog status to wrap up the 2007-2008 meet. Red is three wins in front of Macbeth but with three weeks left before the new season begins, there is room for an upset and will make for an exciting finale before the kick off of the new meet on July 1.
Weekend news updated June 6
Historic Double Stakes weekend begins Friday

You won't want to miss Big Brown's record setting feat this weekend at
historic Derby Lane. Advance wagering on the Belmont begins Friday June 6
when the Plaza gates open at 11:30 AM. Saturday matinee the main entrance
and the Plaza gates will open at 11:30 AM as fans prepare for a fun-filled
day. The festivities begin with Belmont wagering at noon followed by live
action greyhound racing at 12:30 PM and Poker play begins at 2:00 PM with
continuous play until 2:00 AM. There will be 2,000 Big Brown for Triple
Crown T-shirts to be given out for the historic race later in the day.

drafts at the Home Stretch and Finish Line concessions located ground level.
Live entertainment by Blast will begin at 4:30 PM until 8:00 PM. Fans can
enjoy the sounds while wearing their Big Brown T-shirts in support of the
big race.
Saturday night's greyhound action begins at 7:30 PM and the 12th annual T.
L. Weaver Memorial Challenge will be held in race eight. The must-see event
features two of America's top sprinters Red Dirt Road and Flying Macbeth.
These two champion males have been battling all season long. Last week, Red
Dirt Road set a new season win record of 38. Flying Macbeth is just two
wins behind him for the season title that concludes on June 30.
Both Red and Macbeth won their Wednesday night qualifiers. Both overcame
early trouble and rallied to win. Both champions also recorded the same
30.78 over the 550-yard course on Wednesday making them an even match for
Saturday's final.
The stakes race, named after Derby Lane's founding President Thomas Lee
Weaver, is the eighth race Saturday night with an approximate post time of
9:29 PM. This is a fantastic field offering some big returns if the two
leading favorites run into trouble.
Among the field is Sol Deli-the only female who was the runner-up in last
year's race to Extruding Dream. Deli scored her second place from the five
box last year. This year she attempts the win from the six. Magic City who
is the defending kennel hopes that Fly Bye Popstar will score a box to wire
victory the way he did when he broke from the same seven post on May 28.
Jack's Rapidfire is not one to discount especially if he gets loose. He drew
favorably with an inside two box, but another box-breaker Kiowa AK Kieffer,
is next to Jack in post three. Kieffer shot to the front from the six post
and almost won Wednesday night.
Van's Escalade represented Derby Lane in the Palm Beach Memorial Day stakes
with an impressive second place finish behind the World Classic champ Starz
Jenko. Escalade knows the derby oval well and went box to wire the last
time he broke from the same four post on May 31 that he drew for Saturday.
Here is the 12th Annual T. L. Weaver Memorial Challenge stakes in post
order. Best of luck to everyone.
1-Red Dirt Road (Ben Awhile x Izz Our Rags) LaRosa Enterprises
2-Jack's Rapidfire (Stan's Boy Flyer x Leta's Viper) Cal Holland
3-Kiowa AK Kieffer (Kiowa Mon Manny x Flying Pecos K) Filipelli & O'Donnell
4-Van's Escalade (Dodgem By Design x Dalcash Chrisse) D'Arcy
5-Flying Macbeth (Flying Hydrogen x Fuzzys Blueangel) McAllister
6-Sol Deli (Flying Penske x Kiowa Jo Dixie) Marriott & Rian
7-Fly Bye Popstar (Impossible Dream x Bar B Chick) Magic City
8-Bobbye's Donjuan (Coldwater Konow x Happy Go Lucky) Campbell Greyhound
Racing

Red Dirt Road and Flying Macbeth face off in Weaver final
The sixteen candidates for this year's race competed in races six and ten
last night. Red Dirt Road extended the new win record to 39 last night when
he came from off the pace and overpowered Kiowa AK Kieffer in the
homestretch to earn a second chance at the T. L. Weaver Memorial Challenge
title this Saturday night. Red's win boosted his season stats to
72-39-17-6-3. He clocked a 30.78 over the 550-yard course. Lamorge Streaker,
Law's Crusader, Deco Ellen Alone and CTW On The Plaza completed the field.
Race ten saw Flying Macbeth give a sensational performance. Macbeth was
shutoff at the break and regained composure and dug in for a five-length
victory. It appears that Macbeth and Red are evenly matched for Saturday's
final as both clocked the same 30.78 in come from behind victories. Van's
Escalade ran second followed by Bobbye's Donjuan and Jack's Rapidfire
secured the final slot for the 12th annual race. Fifth through eighth was
JRH Ashley, Odd Extreme, Craigie Penske and Silver Chestnut. Posts for the
Saturday stakes will be drawn tonight.

Wednesday's Doubleheader full of champions
Don't forget the Twin Trifecta Jackpot is FORCED OUT EVERY WEDNESDAY NIGHT
The jackpot begins over $9,000 in today's matinee. The Twin Trifecta is
played in races 11 and 13.
We have an awesome doubleheader for today's action that includes the
qualifying rounds for the T. L. Weaver Memorial Challenge in tonight's sixth
and tenth race. Red Dirt Road and Flying Macbeth are theheadliners that
are making this final month of the season a must see event. Flying Macbeth
was the top dog for months but was sidelined for a short stint which allowed
Red Dirt Road to move ahead and set a new season wins record last week.
Macbeth is not taking Red's success lightly and is just two wins from tying
Red. With the entire month of June ahead anything can happen. Both
champions compete tonight for a shot at Saturday's stake race.
Wednesday notes:
Matinee:
Race 1: Arctic Mist(8) is a double drop that is overdue for a win.

scoring the win even though he has been left out of the program picks.

Flying Regent(7) who was the betting favorite in last month's juvenile
stakes. The two are the early favorites for a quiniela finish.

the win.

first in this field.

Race 4: This TA 660-yard field is a "T" race because two grades are being
used, Grade A and Grade B. It is a TA because grade A is the highest grade.
Greys Touch Gold(1) is the early favorite that should give a good show on
the rail and could upset WW Waffle Crisp(7) who is seeking three in a row
over the longer course. Waffle Crisp was a finalist in last month's 550-yd.
Juvenile stakes.
Race 6: T. L. WEAVER QUALIFIER FEATURING RED DIRT ROAD (3)

Flying Macbeth will compete in qualifying rounds for the final 550-yard
stakes of the 2007-2008 season. Red Dirt Road who set a new season win
record of 38 last week is the top dog who kicks off the series in race six

Flying Macbeth scores 600th for McAllister
Saturday night May 31, Flying Macbeth (Flying Hydrogen x Fuzzys Blueangel) marked the 600th win for the top McAllister kennel and kept Red Dirt Road from extending the new wins record. Macbeth who was previously the top dog was sidelined for a few weeks. While inactive, Macbeth’s biggest nemesis Red Dirt Road moved into the top slot and set the new record. Since his return Macbeth has been seeking revenge.
Last week Red Dirt Road set a new season win record of 38 during a single meet. Saturday night offered a prelude to the upcoming T. L. Weaver stakes when Flying Macbeth and Red Dirt Road faced off in race six. Flying Macbeth thrilled fans with an explosive finish from off the pace that scored the win. Not only did Macbeth move within two wins of tying Red’s new record, Flying Macbeth’s winning time of 30.64 was the only time under 31.00 seconds Saturday night.
Flying Macbeth holds the season’s fastest 550-yard time of 30.07 and will be the McAllister entry in Wednesday’s qualifiers for the T. L. Weaver Memorial Challenge-the final 550-yard stakes of the meet.
When Derby Lane began their first year-round meet last July, Malcolm McAllister hoped that he could score at least 600 or more wins to set a high standard during the first year round season. McAllister fulfilled that dream four weeks prior to the season finale on June 30. McAllister also predicted that Flying Macbeth would be his top sprinter in 2008 and Macbeth has not let McAllister down yet. Flying Macbeth will need to run fourth or better Wednesday night to earn a slot in the June 7 stakes.
The T. L. Weaver Memorial Challenge will be part of the Triple Crown weekend featuring the simulcast from Belmont where Big Brown’s will attempt at a historic Triple Crown victory. With four weeks left in the meet there is a possibility that Flying Macbeth could knock Red out of the top spot. Stay tuned.
